In addition to his leadership within the Conference, as Deputy Legislative Director (2023–2025) and Vice President (2024–2025), Mayor Pileski also serves on the Illinois Fire Pension Investment Fund Board, further pursuing responsible fiscal stewardship and public service at both the local and state levels. After 9 years with the Roselle Fire Department and more than 30 years of fire service experience, Fire Chief Mark Bozik has announced he will retire on January 27, 2025. Bozik began his tenure with the Roselle Fire Department as Deputy Fire Chief in April 2016. Prior to his role in Roselle, Bozik served as a Firefighter/ Paramedic, Lieutenant, Bureau Chief, and Assistant Chief with the North Aurora Fire District and Firefighter / Paramedic with the Naperville Fire Department. Bozik served as Acting Fire Chief in January 2020 after his predecessor’s departure before Village trustees appointed him Fire Chief in May 2020. The Roselle Lions Club named Bozik “Firefighter of the Year” in 2020. Under the leadership of Chief Bozik over the last four years, the Roselle Fire Department has increased participation in community events, updated department vehicles and equipment, and increased the number of full-time firefighter/paramedics in the department to more effectively serve Roselle. Additionally, the Village of Roselle lauds Chief Bozik for his successful management of the department, including negotiating successful labor contracts and shifting contract paramedic services to Village employees to reduce costs while maintaining service levels. “I want to extend my deepest gratitude to Chief Bozik for his extraordinary service and dedication to Roselle. He stepped in to lead during the height of the pandemic and exemplified leadership, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to our community,” said Roselle Mayor David Pileski. “His legacy is a well-prepared department ready to step up into new leadership roles to continue protecting and serving Roselle.” Chief Bozik holds a Chief Fire Officer certification designation from the Office of the State Fire Marshal, a Master's Degree in Public Safety and Homeland Security Management from Southern Illinois University, a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University, and an Associate's Degree in Fire Science from Waubonsee Community College. He is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, and a founding member of the Illinois Urban Search and Rescue Team Task Force. Bozik has also served as Co-Chair of the MABAS Technical Rescue Team Committee, the DuPage County Fire Chiefs representative on the DuPage County School Safety Task Force, and treasurer for Budda’s Brotherhood Foundation that financially assists firefighters diagnosed with cancer. “I am proud of the men and women of the Roselle Fire Department and the high level of service we provide the residents and visitors of the Village day in and day out,” said Bozik. “Our succession planning will ensure that high level of service continues while always looking for better and innovate ways to serve our residents.”
