💚♻️ Packaging Waste = VALUE The future of packaging is being written right now. And if there was ever a moment to act boldly — this is it! Bold action is being required more than ever before! 🌍 Mindset shift is no longer optional. We must move from seeing packaging waste as a problem… to seeing it as a resource. A catalyst for a truly circular economy. 💡 At the Sustainability Forum, April 9–10 in Bucharest, we proudly unveiled RoFlex — a groundbreaking collaborative pilot project powered by CEFLEX - A Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging, with multiple CEFLEX Stakeholders and many commited partners from Romania (OIREP Ambalaje, ARAM, Eco Bihor, Romcarbon, A.D.I. Bihor & Covasna - and many others that will be presented soon). 🎯 RoFlex is Romania’s first impactful effort on diverting to recycling Flexible Packaging (out of household collection) putting together players across the whole Value Chain. All this to kickstart the sorting and recycling of household flexible plastic packaging! Romania did prove with DRS implementation that change is possible, being a model in other EU countries now. RoFlex is more than a pilot. This is a signal. It is a massive call to action! For the whole Region not only Ro - please look to the graph below in the comments and you will understand why! 👏 Huge congratulations to the event organizers — a top-level forum with outstanding speakers, concrete actions, and an ambitious vision for sustainable change. ♻️ And here’s your reminder: Under the proposed Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the rules are clear. All packaging placed on the EU market must (in paralel): ✅ Be designed for recycling ✅ Be recycled at scale To get there, we need a radical transformation across the entire packaging value chain: 🔹 Efficient collection systems 🔹 High-performance sorting 🔹 Strong recycling infrastructure 👉 Each of these steps must exceed 80% efficiency to achieve the EU's 55% recycling rate target (the Recycled at Scale!). (82% x 82% x 82% = ~55%). Is everyone realizing how big is this leap?! Let that sink in. This is a massive leap — and it starts with pilots like RoFlex. 💥 Let’s raise the bar. Let’s lead the shift. PPWR: 3 Must-Do Strategies to Stand Out 🚀♻️ What a great experience at the Berlin LeadEvent – Sustainable Packaging & Recycling Innovation Summit! Great conversations, fantastic speakers (!), and a room with top professionals/top Packaging voices committed to driving real change. I had the opportunity to share my insights on #PPWR (my favorite topic!): 3 Must-Do Strategies to Stand Out, focusing on what it takes to navigate the biggest regulatory shift in packaging today. Here are my top takeaways from the event: ✅ PPWR is the #1 topic on everyone’s mind.  ↳ The challenges are undeniable, but the solutions are there too. The key? Collaboration, adaptability, and bold ACTION! ✅ Sustainability matters—but so does the user experience.  ↳ While regulations drives circularity, we must remember that packaging still needs to meet consumer expectations. Balancing functionality & experience and sustainability is crucial. A winning strategy! ✅ EPR is set to play a defining role.  ↳ Scaling collection, sorting and recyclability at an impactful level requires significant investment, infrastructure, and commitment from all stakeholders (across the whole Value Chain!). ✅ Collaborate, collaborate, collaborate. Cannot emphasize enough. ↳ The only silver bullet of the journey ahead! Everyone along the Value Chain, Standing up and collaborating will be critical. Join the right forums, consortiums (e.g. CEFLEX - A Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging, CELAB Europe,...) 💡 A strong call to action resonated throughout the event: we must move beyond discussions and into action. Truly inspiring session at the recent CEFLEX - A Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging! Strong momentum building towards achieving #PPWR goals. Shows as well the ability to drive systematic change of consortiums. Recommended for everyone touching Flexible Packaging to join (RoFlex would have not been possible without CEFLEX). Moving forward, clear, actionable roadmaps supported by concrete projects at both company and national levels in Member States will be essential.

💚♻️ PPWR Webinar Recap. The Industry is clearly Engaged, but Action is urgent and crucial! ♻️ In our yesterday’s two PPWR webinars we've highlighted the clear urgency: Compliance is no longer optional—it’s immediate. To be in time for meeting #PPWR targets - Action is needed NOW! 🔑 Key messages: ✅ August 2026 deadlines are close. ↳ Delay means risking non-compliance. This is short timing! ✅ Recyclability by design, recycled content, reuse... all are critical to be actioned now. ↳ Organizations can move now, not waiting for 2028 - there are great guidelines out there that will help you moving into the right direction. ✅ Meeting 55% recyclability targets for plastic packaging demands major infrastructure investments, innovation, and coordinated EU-wide action. ↳ This by itself is huge as requires very high level of Collection, Sorting and Recycling across member state !!! Projects across MS will be critical to prove what is possible and inspire/trigger the change! ✅ EPR schemes will be a strategic tool moving forward. ↳ Crucial on making happen the #PPWR. And, incentivizing the right behaviors. ✅ Labelling rules are changing the game. ↳ Harmonized labels and disposal instructions mean rapid packaging redesign and new compliance challenges across markets. This takes time!! And, frankly, some standardization is what is needed! ✅ It's much more regulation than #PPWR (FCM, Reach, Plastic for food contact, Ink ordinances ...). ↳ Pack development cannot be done anymore without being up to date on regulation across every MS. ✅ Companies may benefit from bringing in external perspectives! ↳ To inspire and energize the entire organization—from Marketing, Supply Chain, and Procurement teams, all the way from the shop floor to the Boardroom! ✅ (True) collaboration is key! ↳ Everyone (!) collaborating and standing up will be critical.
