Today, at VET Indexes' “Employing U.S. Vets Conference” in New York, VetJobs received an award from General Motors for an inspiring story we shared in remembrance of 9/11. As part of this recognition, GM presented RADM Dan Kloeppel, CEO of VetJobs and a proud veteran, with a commemorative 9/11 car model. This award is not just about a story—it’s about the enduring legacy of service, sacrifice, and resilience that 9/11 represents. We’re proud to continue sharing these powerful narratives and honoring those who served then and continue to serve today. Thank you to General Motors for this meaningful recognition. #VetJobs #NeverForget #911Tribute #Veterans #Service #GM #Leadership

On April 25, Karen Francis, Training Associate/SkillsBuild Program Manager for VetJobs and Military Spouse Jobs, attended the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Employers Conference. The conference brought together employers, partners, and experts at the Inova Campus in Fairfax to discuss how Virginia businesses can better connect with veterans and military spouses for hiring and retention. Inova, a leader in veteran and milspouse employment, hosted the event and showcased their impressive programs for hiring, onboarding, and employee resource groups (ERG). ✨ Kevin Schmiegel, a longtime advocate for veteran and milspouse employment, served as the MC. ✨ Opening remarks were delivered by the new Commissioner of DVS, setting the tone for an impactful day. ✨ The first panel featured Robin Kelleher (Hope for the Warriors), Michael Glascok (DVS), Jeff Carson (Peraton), and Jeff Pratt (Inova) discussing the benefits of hiring veterans and spouses, strategies to attract them, and how to foster long-term employee engagement. ✨ The second panel brought lively discussions with Katie Spinazzola (DVS), Gary Patton (CACI), Lisa Lato (recently transitioned service member), and Bobby Mahon (SkillSource Group). They explored practical ways to attract and retain military-connected employees. The new Deputy Secretary also shared exciting future plans from the Governor, highlighting Virginia’s commitment to supporting veterans and military families. Key Takeaways: ✅ Employers emphasized the importance of tailoring outreach and onboarding processes to veterans and spouses. ✅ Questions about military spouse resumes sparked great conversations, and resources were shared to assist spouses in their job search. ✅ Networking opportunities connected attendees with leaders like Deb Bradbard, now Director of the Boeing Center for Veteran Transition and Military Families. This event was an incredible opportunity to learn, connect, and strengthen efforts to support our military community. Together, we’re building a stronger workforce and brighter future for veterans and their families. 💼💪 #VirginiaValuesVeterans #V3Conference #HireVets #MilitarySpouses #VeteranEmployment #Networking
