Shelby’s journey with Valley Youth House began as a summer intern at our Lehigh Valley Shelter while she was studying psychology and women & gender studies. That experience sparked a passion that brought her back years later—this time as a Clinical Intake Specialist for our Supervised Independent Living program. Now, as Associate Director of Training & Talent Development, Shelby helps train and support staff across the agency, manages our internship programs, and brings a creative, people-centered approach to curriculum design. Her favorite part? Getting to know the incredible people across the agency who show up every day to make a difference. Shelby says it best: “We’re in the people business. After experiencing homelessness, Kymirah found stability and support at VYH. Today, she helps other young people access safe housing, return to school, gain parenting resources, and build brighter futures for themselves and their children. Join Philly Homes 4 Youth Coalition for a Housing Symposium featuring Valley Youth House, Eddie's House PHL, and HopePHL as we work together to find lasting solutions to end youth homelessness in Philadelphia. 🏫 In 2024, the School District of Philadelphia allocated $2.3M to address student homelessness — but that funding expires in June 2025.
