Did you know March is officially ALICE Awareness Month in Bucks County? For the second year in a row, the Bucks County Commissioners have issued a proclamation recognizing the hardworking families who struggle to afford the basics – our ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) neighbors. "We hope that this recognition sparks greater community involvement and encourages collective action to address the obstacles faced by ALICE residents in our county,” the proclamation states. We are grateful to the County and our dedicated community bank partners – Penn Community Bank, Peoples Security Bank & Trust, QNB Bank, and Univest – for their commitment to supporting ALICE and promoting financial stability for all. Join us this month in raising awareness and taking action to support those who keep our community running. United Way of Bucks County reposted this
Yesterday, Children First took us through their #BucksCounty report: A Decade of Stalled Progress (link in comments, read if you care about kids, families and/or the economic future of our county/region/state/country). We *must* do better! Thanks to donna cooper and Dan O’Brien your passion and commitment, PreK partners Nicole Fetherman (phenomenal job on the panel!) and Valerie Hamilton always show up for kids and the early ed sector, and my colleague Anthony Velez for repping United Way of Bucks County’s early ed team.

🍎✨ Today, as part of our PreK Counts Learning Series for our Board of Directors, we had the incredible opportunity to visit Baby Genius Daycare in Langhorne and see our #PreKCounts classrooms in action! 🏫👧👦 During this session, board members observed firsthand how our classrooms operate, engaged with educators, and saw the impact of high-quality early education in our community. These visits help us deepen our understanding of the importance of PreK Counts and the role it plays in shaping young learners’ futures. This was Part 2 of our series—following our Virtual Lunch & Learn held late last year, where we explored the foundation of PreK Counts, the power of partnerships, and how we prepare for these site visits. A huge thank you to our Board Members Matt Hanson, Lauren Barbir, Rick Miller, and Randall Beaman for joining us today and for your dedication to early education in Bucks County! 💙📚 #PreKCounts #UnitedIsTheWay #EarlyLearning #PreKMatters #UWbucks
