  • ⭐️🎥 Resident Spotlight: Melvin 📍Hewgley Terrace One of our residents at Hewgley Terrace, Melvin Barrens, was recently inducted into Booker T. Washington’s Ring of Honor! 🏆 Melvin is a native Tulsan and a 1974 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. Melvin was an All-State quarterback on the Hornets’ 1973 class 4A state title team that went 11-0. “Operating a wishbone offense, he didn't get to throw a lot, but was effective when he did as he passed for 1,300 yards and 21 TDs in only 110 attempts. The Hornets averaged 39.5 points per game — a school record that lasted more than 30 years. In a 39-7 win over Hale in the title game, had 250 total yards and passed for three TDs. Went on to play for the University of Kansas.” We are so proud of Melvin and are honored to have this football star with us at Hewgley Terrace! 🏈

  • Tulsa can’t afford to lose a single unit of affordable housing. That’s why preserving existing properties is just as important as new development. 🔨 After about 18 months of renovations, Pioneer Plaza has undergone major upgrades—not just behind the scenes with things like pipes and electrical, but also in ways that enhance our residents’ day-to-day lives. ⭐️ New additions include a game room, pickleball court, a dog run, and a shared kitchen where cooking classes are held and local nonprofits provide meals for residents. 🍽️ Check out the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gBSzRf7z

  • This week, we’re spotlighting the story of one of our residents at Pioneer Plaza, Donald Shaw! 🎥 Donald is the grandson of Dr. Lloyd Williams, whose business was destroyed during the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre in the Greenwood District. Donald’s mother was the daughter of Dr. Williams. Although Donald’s mother never left Tulsa, she told him her “father was never heard from or seen again after that day.” Reportedly, “she had no idea if he was killed, left town, or what happened to him.” To honor his grandfather, Donald proudly serves as a tour guide for Black Wall Street. At 70-plus years old, he is the eldest tour guide for Black Wall Street. If you would like to schedule a tour with Donald, you can reach out to him at 918-269-8073. 📞 The meeting place to start the tour will be in front of Sweet Lisa’s Cafe. 🍽️

  • We want to extend a huge thank you to our community partner, Lilyfield, for their continued support and commitment to the families at Seminole Hills and Mohawk Manor! 🙌 Lilyfield shows up with open hearts and helping hands—offering monthly resources, parent support groups, and engaging Kids Club activities that bring joy and encouragement to our residents. Over the summer, they went above and beyond by providing a wide range of family-centered classes for both adults and children, creating opportunities for learning, bonding, and growth. 📖 🫂 What makes Lilyfield truly special is their willingness to step in, listen, and respond with care. Their presence makes a real difference, and we are so thankful for the positive impact they continue to have in our communities! ⭐️
