Metal 3D printing is transforming industries, but how does it work? Introducing our Beginner's Guide to Metal 3D Printing! Get ready to learn about: 🔹 Selective Laser Melting (SLM): Uses high-intensity laser or electron beam to melt and fuse metal powder layer by layer 🔹Directed Energy Deposition (DED), Uses focused thermal energy to melt and deposit metal in powder or wire form. 🔹Metal Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM): Similar to FDM but uses metal filaments instead of thermoplastics. 🔹Metal Binder Jetting: Selectively jetted through a print head onto a bed of metal powder, binding the metal powder particles together, “gluing” them into the desired shape layer by layer. Each technology has its place, depending on your needs! Our Beginner’s Guide covers the essentials of all processes, including the pros, cons, and applications of each printing technology, as well as materials, lead times, rapid prototyping, and more!
