Smarter Urban Logistics in Slovenia – TRACE Project Demonstration Exciting innovations are underway in Slovenia as part of the TRACE Project, exploring how to make urban deliveries more efficient, sustainable, and future-ready! 📦🚴♂️ Led by Pošta Slovenije, AV Living Lab, and the Univerza v Mariboru, this demonstration is testing new last-mile logistics solutions to reduce emissions and optimize parcel distribution. 🔹 Simulation Phase – Using real parcel data to evaluate e-cargo bikes, robots, and more, while assessing key performance indicators and regulations. 🔹 Implementation Phase – Deploying the best solutions in a real-world setting, including an Urban Consolidation Center (UCC) to cut traffic congestion and improve delivery efficiency. 🚛 TRACE at #RTR2025: Advancing Sustainable and Resilient Freight Transport 🚛 From February 11-13, 2025, the RTR Conference brought together experts, researchers, and policymakers in Brussels to discuss the future of road transport in Europe. With more than 400 participants on-site and 400 joining online, the event highlighted key R&I advancements in decarbonization, digitalization, safety, and logistics. TRACE was honored to participate in Session 12: “Sustainable and Resilient Freight Transport and Long-Haul Logistics”, alongside fellow Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects: SETO Project, KEYSTONE EU, SARIL Project, and ReMuNet Project. Our coordinator, Prof. Stathes Hadjiefthymiades (University of Athens, Dept. of Informatics), presented TRACE’s mission to enhance logistics efficiency through integration and harmonization of freight transport operations. Really glad to have invested my day yesterday in this event and see how the Flemish logistics ecosystem joined within VIL Flanders Innovation Cluster for Logisticsis is embracing and pioneering the development and implementation of #physicalinternet for global impact with leading companies such as Nike, ArcelorMittal and Procter & Gamble. Universities and technology centres including ALICE, Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe (ETP LOGISTICS) members such as imec , Mobilise VUB and University of Antwerp are closing the gap between concept and practice in this logistics innovation frontrunner region. Congratulations to VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship for their foresight and vision. During my closing, I highlighted many other projects building on the #physicalinternet concept: SARIL Project, ReMuNet Project, Stargate - EU Green Deal, MultiRELOAD, FOR-FREIGHT, TRACE HORIZON, @admiral, DISCO Project, UNCHAIN Project, URBANE Project, DECARBOMILE and automation MODI Project, AutoMoTIF and AUTOSUP.
