Really glad to have invested my day yesterday in this event and see how the Flemish logistics ecosystem joined within VIL Flanders Innovation Cluster for Logisticsis is embracing and pioneering the development and implementation of #physicalinternet for global impact with leading companies such as Nike, ArcelorMittal and Procter & Gamble. Universities and technology centres including ALICE, Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe (ETP LOGISTICS) members such as imec , Mobilise VUB and University of Antwerp are closing the gap between concept and practice in this logistics innovation frontrunner region. Congratulations to VLAIO - Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship for their foresight and vision. During my closing, I highlighted many other projects building on the #physicalinternet concept: SARIL Project, ReMuNet Project, Stargate - EU Green Deal, MultiRELOAD, FOR-FREIGHT, TRACE HORIZON, @admiral, DISCO Project, UNCHAIN Project, URBANE Project, DECARBOMILE and automation MODI Project, AutoMoTIF and AUTOSUP. I strongly encourage those projects partners to have a deeper look into the blueprint generated by PILL project https://lnkd.in/exRX39kh as well as the presentations of the event as they will become available. Keen to do connections and introductions as needed #dataspaces #physicalinternet #eficientlogistics #logisticsinnovation

🚀 ✨ 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲: 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗟 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗬𝗧𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗟 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁. On 18 February 2025, the ALICE team joined industry leaders and logistics innovators for the final event of two research projects: 𝗣𝗜𝗟𝗟 (𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝘀) and 𝗦𝗬𝗧𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗟 (𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴). These projects have laid the foundations for a more efficient, interconnected, and sustainable logistics system through data sharing, synchromodal transport, and Physical Internet principles. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁: ✅ The 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 with a practical blueprint and first software prototypes developed through PILL. ✅ 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀, and SYTADEL has laid the foundation for a trusted logistics data space. ✅ 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹. Leaders from Nike, P&G, ArcelorMittal, The Flemish Waterway, BCTN, and others shared how integrating digital platforms and intermodal solutions is already changing logistics. ✅ ALICE’s 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗮𝗽 aligns with these innovations, helping companies in scaling up Physical Internet solutions to reach sustainability goals. Contributions from the ALICE team: 🎤 Sergio Barbarino (P&G & ALICE Vice-Chair) presented logistics innovations, including AELER containers, SMARTBOX, and new multiretailer/multimanufacturer collaboration models. He also highlighted how the Physical Internet supports the transition to zero-emission logistics, in line with the ALICE Zero Emissions Roadmap. 🎤 Fernando Liesa (ALICE Secretary General) delivered an inspiring closing session, stating: "𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑢𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑠𝑦𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑑𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑃ℎ𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝐼𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛𝑒𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑤." He outlined how PI enables seamless access to resources, increased asset utilisation, and standardisation, driving decarbonisation, resilience, and efficiency in logistics. 🎤 Andreea Calin (ALICE Senior Innovation Manager) presented the AutoMoTIF project, which focuses on automation in multimodal transport to increase efficiency, reduce emissions, and streamline freight operations. We would like to thank VIL Flanders Innovation Cluster for Logistics, imec, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, University of Antwerp, Vlerick Business School, and all partners for their contributions to these projects! 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/e3buMxMa #PhysicalInternet #Synchromodality #LogisticsInnovation #ZeroEmissionLogistics
