Thank you to Fortune for the thoughtful look at our CEO and co-founder’s journey toward founding Thrive Market. Led by what would one day become our mission to making healthy living easy and affordable for all people, Nick built Thrive Market by first creating a community for our members — and we couldn't be prouder of how far we've come. Give this one a read if you're looking for some inspiration to keep going despite any challenges.
The odds of achieving a perfect score on the SAT–the holy grail of standardized testing–is less than 1%, while the chances of launching a successful business lasting more than a decade are just 35%. Against the odds, Nicholas R. Green, the founder and CEO of Thrive Market has achieved both. The Harvard alum and self-proclaimed “accidental entrepreneur” has been on a 10-year-long journey to stock your fridge with the healthiest food options on the market, but at an affordable price point. Enter, Thrive: The healthy food membership grocer (think: Whole Foods meets Costco) he launched in 2014 with three cofounders boasts over $700 million in sales and 1.6 million paid members paying $60 per year, according to the company. In the wake of the devastating wildfires that overtook Los Angeles last week, we immediately mobilized to provide relief to our neighbors in need. That included the The Williamses, a family of 17 who have called Altadena home for multiple generations and lost 4 separate homes in the Eaton fire. We were able to provide the Williams family with $15,000 in healthy groceries to begin to rebuild their pantries as they rebuild their lives. Thanks to our generous members, we’ve raised $50k to help support organizations like Baby2Baby in their wildfire relief efforts.
