My friend had to hang up on someone from their care team last week. They got a call from a representative offering $100 gift card to schedule an at-home annual checkup. The rep was so insistent that my friend couldn't get a word in edgewise to say they just had their checkup last week. Who sent the rep? Was it their medical group? Their health plan? An IPA in-between? It doesn't matter: my friend's relationship with their healthcare complex was sabotaged in pursuit of a population health objective. When the year-end pressure of the Q4 push intensifies on healthcare organizations, they contract with expensive "healthcare solutions" companies who's only goal is to hassle patients into closing gaps. VBC shouldn't be this way. We're working on something new that's going to change everything.
