Meet our team! Morgan Willison (she/they) is a Research Associate at Trans Health HQ. They have supported the growth of our Community and Clinician Resource Hubs by vetting hundreds of resources suggested by trusted trans and gender-expansive community members, public health practitioners, and healthcare workers. Morgan also manages our Trans Health HQ Collective of trans health clinicians, activists, and researchers, breaking down silos across sectors to bring together key leaders in the trans health space. Passionate about standing up for trans rights, she is proud to be facilitating access to dignified, affirming healthcare for all, and hopes trans and gender-expansive people everywhere, but especially in places where their rights are under attack, can take heart knowing there are so many people who remain dedicated to protecting our community. Morgan is affiliated with Northwestern University's Psychology and Gender & Sexuality Studies Programs, and presented "Beyond Surgery & Hormones: Community-Specific Gender-Affirming Care, Research, & Innovation" and shared our resource hub with attendees at the Moving Trans History Forward Conference just this weekend. Thank you Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts – in particular Sarah Iselin and Michele Courton Brown – for investing in our mission to bring dignified, affirming healthcare to the transgender and gender-expansive community, and creating a space to be in community with values-aligned founders working in the field of health equity. Working with a fragmented healthcare system to achieve patient-centered care for a vulnerable community is challenging, especially in the context of political unpredictability. Engaging with C-suite and executive leaders of BCBS MA helped us understand how Trans Health HQ can best 1) address the mismatch between supply and demand for gender-affirming care at scale, which is especially important now that there are medical refugees in Massachusetts - and other states with shield laws - seeking gender-affirming care, and 2) align healthcare incentives for a sustainable and replicable intervention. BCBS MA's investment in our work, in the form of a non-dilutive grant, allows us to scale our clinician resource hub for a public launch in the coming weeks. We look forward to exploring ways to further expand BCBS MA's capacity for delivering gender-affirming care for its trans and gender-expansive members throughout this program.
