It's World Art Day—a reminder to pause and celebrate the creativity that enriches our everyday lives. At MathCo, this creativity takes many forms, including in the thoughtful sketches of Design Associate Nikhil Prasad D, whose artistic journey reveals how art can become both a personal sanctuary and a powerful form of self-expression. Nikhil's affinity for art began during his school days as a simple pastime. "I have been sketching since my school days. What once started as a hobby eventually grew to be a form of therapy," he shares. Self-taught and driven by curiosity, Nikhil started with simple pictures and gradually progressed to exploring light, shadow, and emotion. Nikhil's work thrives in the balance between structure and freedom. "With portraits, I like showing emotions and small details in people's faces. It feels special," he explains. "Abstract is also fun—there are no rules, just whatever I feel in the moment." His creative process is largely intuitive. "Sometimes I just start drawing with no plan, and slowly, an idea forms in my head. I like creating things that don't exist in real life—but still feel like they could." Imagination leads the way, but emotions and real-life experiences shape what eventually takes form on paper. Like many artists, he's learned to navigate the natural ebbs and flows of creativity. When inspiration wanes, he turns to rest, music, or nature—allowing his creative spark to return organically. Over time, patience has become integral to his process, especially when experimenting with detailed dot work using black pens. "It takes time, but I enjoy the detail and patience it needs." Among his works, one sketch stands out—a warrior woman adorned with feathers, poised with a bow. "That sketch reminded me of the fighter in me; it wasn't planned—it just came out of how I was feeling," he reflects. For Nikhil, art is a quiet conversation—between thought, feeling, and imagination.
