The Healthy Dispatcher offers training classes and consulting services designed to help your comm center thrive

About us

We believe 9-1-1 professionals are the unsung superheroes of our communities, every day. We believe health and well-being are not merely the absence of illness. We believe health is the ability to express one’s full range of potential. We believe the health of a 9-1-1 center is determined by the health of its people — in the way they communicate, live and lead. Our mission is to empower your comm center with tools to thrive. Our classes are interactive, experiential, and fun, with focused learning activities, music and deep-dive exercises that engage learners at a level that matters to them. Participants leave with specific actionable tools they can immediately apply to their work and life. Founded by a former 9-1-1 professional, The Healthy Dispatcher provides tools and perspectives your people can use today.

  • What a way to wrap up an incredible week at International Academies of Emergency Dispatch NAVIGATOR 2025 Conference! Adam brought the energy (and the urgency!) to the closing keynote. Challenging us all to make our mark with purpose, passion, and a whole lot of heart. From breaking down the Cycle of Dissatisfaction (with a little flair) to reminding us why the time for change is now, Adam had the whole room leaning in, laughing, and leaving inspired. A huge thank you to IAED President Jerry Overton and all of those with NAVIGATOR for having The Healthy Dispatcher and for inviting Adam to help close out this powerful week. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect, grow, and continue this mission alongside such an incredible community. Until next year; keep influencing, innovating, and inspiring!

  • THD training Minute Ep 88: What Would They Say? Your reputation isn’t built by what you think you do—it’s shaped by what your coworkers see every day. Are you a team player, a leader, or a weak link? In the high-stakes world of 911, how you’re perceived impacts trust, teamwork, and success. This training challenges you to ask: If your team described you, would you like what they say? #TheHealthyDispatcher #911dispatcher #thingoldline

  • These Badasses of Dispatch When first they arrive, it’s a pitiful sight— Eyes wide, hands twitchy, posture not right. They don’t yet know the chaos they’ll reign, Still soft around the edges, still using their brain.   Through the gauntlet of training, only some survive The rest tap out, while the tough ones thrive. The ones who can hang? The few who remain? They’re built from caffeine, sarcasm, and pain.   Now released to the jungle of console and chair, They stumble in silence, still blinking and bare. Phones wail, radios bark, CAD does what it wants, Welcome to dispatch, where calm meets response.   These badasses of dispatch, these warriors of night, Have mutated now into pure fight-or-flight. They speak in ten codes and acronyms galore Doing badassery, then coming back for more.   By day or by night, through rain, snow, or heat, They sit with their headset and never retreat. You bring them the worst, your fire, your fear They answer with, “Help’s on the way,” loud and clear.   These badasses of dispatch, these chaos commandos, Are multitasking mutants in ergonomic command posts. With one arm on the phone, another on the air, And a third you can’t see, rerouting somewhere.   While others take bows and bask in the fame, Dispatch just resets and does it again. Ask any officer alone in the fray It’s dispatch that guides them and shows them the way.   These badasses of dispatch, these headset elite, They’re the steady behind every field unit’s beat. They find the address, the warrant, the plate— While tracking five things and managing fate.   When you think of first responders, don’t forget the crew Who take the first call and see it all through. The ones you don’t see, but whose voice cuts the dark, Who hold the line when life comes apart.   These badasses of dispatch, the calm in the storm, Once ordinary, now fully transformed. When things go sideways, when time runs thin, Badassery answers. Again and again.   You badasses of dispatch, you midnight brigade, You answer the call with no accolades paid. Fueled by nerve, instinct, and raw caffeine zest— You show up each time, the best of the best.   Badasses. Doing badassery. -Kris Inman

  • Self-Care Sunday- Start of NPSTW 👏 🖤💛National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week begins today—and while the world takes this time to recognize your impact, we hope you do too.🖤💛 You carry stories that never leave you. You remain calm when others can’t. You show up, shift after shift, even when the weight is heavy. So today, give yourself what you so often give others: grace, patience, and care. You don’t need to “power through” today. You just need to be. That’s more than enough.
