  • Why Years in Recruiting Will Leave You Feeling Like You’ve Been Through a Heavyweight Title Fight... 1️⃣ Ghosting Trauma – You spend weeks courting a candidate, guiding them through interviews, hyping them up… and then POOF! They vanish like your motivation on a Monday morning. Not even a "Thanks, but no thanks"—just radio silence, leaving you questioning your life choices. 2️⃣ Hiring Manager Mood Swings – One day they love the candidate, the next they "aren’t sure about their energy" (whatever that means). And heaven forbid they get back from a conference, suddenly deciding they need to "reevaluate the role" altogether. Translation: You just wasted two months of your life for nothing. 3️⃣ The “I’m So Excited” Turnaround – Candidate calls: “I can’t wait to start! This is my dream job!” You celebrate. Pop the champagne. Then two days later: “Actually, I’ve decided to stay at my current company.” Pop goes your sanity. 4️⃣ Compensation Delusion Syndrome – Candidates making $85K somehow believe they deserve $250K because they took an online course once. Hiring managers want “a PhD, 10+ years of experience, and a Nobel Prize” for an entry-level salary. And YOU are the one stuck in the middle of this absurd negotiation. 5️⃣ The Never-Ending Urgency That Isn’t – Clients scream, “We need someone ASAP!” You drop everything. Find the perfect fit. Submit them in record time. Then… crickets. Turns out “ASAP” meant “We’ll sit on this for four months before deciding to hire internally.” 6️⃣ Your Entire Job is a Game of Broken Telephone – You tell the candidate one thing, they hear another. The hiring manager tells you feedback, but somehow it contradicts the email they sent. And at the end of the day, the only thing consistent is the inconsistency. Bonus Round: After years of this, recruiters don’t burn out—we fade into sarcasm, sustained only by caffeine, dark humor, and the occasional miracle placement.
