About us
The National Guard Association of the United States (NGAUS) is a nonpartisan organization representing nearly 45,000 current and former Army and Air National Guard officers. Formed in 1878, NGAUS is focused on procuring better equipment, standardized training and a more combat-ready force by petitioning Congress for resources. Well over a century later, NGAUS has the same mission. Our goal is to maintain the freedom and security of this nation by guaranteeing a strong national defense through the provision of a vital, dynamic National Guard as a part of the Total Force.

Today, we gathered to celebrate Marcy Weldin on her final day as NGAUS acting legislative director. For 4 years, Marcy has served as a committed advocate for this association, the interests of the National Guard and their families. Her ability to build coalitions and forge relationships on Capitol Hill helped secure legislative wins that have benefitted Guardsmen, as well as their families. Maj. Gen. Francis M. McGinn (Ret.), NGAUS president, and Brig. Gen. Maria Kelly (Ret.), director of membership and marketing, presented Marcy with a pin and certificate of Associate Life Membership. Although no longer a member of the NGAUS team, Marcy remains a part of the NGAUS family. Join us in wishing Marcy great success moving forward.

Today, Maj. Gen. Francis M. McGinn (Ret.), the NGAUS president, and Julian Plamann, Legislative Affairs Manager, visited with Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wisc., to discuss priorities for the National Guard and opportunities to expand benefits for Guardsmen and veterans. Rep. Van Orden, a retired Navy SEAL, last Congress helped to increase military leave for Federal employees and improve transition assistance programs for the Reserve Component. We are excited to work with his office to deliver on behalf of Guardsmen, their families, and veterans.
