Keeping Children Safe and Families Together Since 1985

About us

Since 1985, The Children’s Cabinet’s mission has been to keep children safe and families together by providing services and resources that address unmet needs through a unique and effective cooperative effort between the private sector and public agencies in Nevada. By offering a wide range of community programs, the goal of the agency’s founders was to create a lasting public/private partnership to address the needs of children and their families in our community. In the past year, The Children’s Cabinet helped more than 10,000 families. The Children’s Cabinet’s work extends past the immediate needs of youth and families to promote happy, healthy families. Offering more than 20 programs for children (birth to 24 years old), services include providing food and shelter, crisis intervention and case management, academic support, tutoring, job training and transitional living, parenting classes, child care subsidies, child care resource and referral assistance, and free family counseling. The Children’s Cabinet provides a wide range of crisis intervention services, including Safe Place, a service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for youth experiencing violence, abuse or exploitation. Programs also include runaway and homeless youth services, substance abuse and gang intervention programming, work experience training, and independent living for former foster care youth. As a non-profit agency, The Children’s Cabinet relies upon community support in order to offer programs and services at no charge to at-risk children and their families.

  • 🧸 April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness and take action to build brighter futures for every child.💙 Today, we're highlighting the importance of creating and celebrating Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs). These are the moments and relationships that help children feel safe, supported, and loved. They can also buffer the effects of stress and trauma. PCEs include: ✨ Having a caregiver who believes in them ✨ Feeling safe at home ✨ Having at least one trusted adult outside the home ✨ Feeling a sense of belonging in their school or community ✨ Opportunities to have fun and learn through play These moments help kids grow up strong and healthy, which is why it’s so important for parents and caregivers to know: the positive moments you create today can protect your child’s future. 🎈

  • Congratulations to Brittany Sud Insurance Agency Inc., one of our wonderful local State Farm offices here in Henderson, for earning the Best Place for Working Parents designation!🎉 Brittany and Anthony operate a space that feels welcoming and supportive from the moment you walk through the door. Their team is knowledgeable, positive, and kind, all things that are not a surprise to see when leadership has such a strong focus on supporting working families. Paid parental leave and flexibility are among the benefits that they offer to promote work-life balance and a supportive company culture. Anthony explains, "We have a people first mentality here and always appreciated the flexibility our mentors/leaders gave to us as employees. We try to pass on that same courtesy and our team has responded well and seems to appreciate it." Please join us in thanking Brittany and Anthony for providing such a stellar example of the fact that a company does not need to be large in order to support working parents. Microbusinesses like this State Farm office that work so closely with our neighbors and their families are a cornerstone of our community, and operating family-friendly workplaces in whatever way works best for each business is one of the best ways to increase productivity, job satisfaction, and retention in order to provide such valuable service. 💼 The Best Place for Working Parents (BP4WP) initiative recognizes businesses that are leading the way in family-friendly policies.
