About us
TAPPA represents over 175 Texas education organizations including universities, junior and community colleges, and 4-year colleges with over 400 members who are actively involved in the administration and operation of facilities at institutions whose main emphasis is education. TAPPA began when the Articles of Incorporation were filed with the Texas Secretary of State on May 7, 1979. Our primary emphasis is in the area of higher education (post secondary) however, membership is welcome from all institutions involved in education. TAPPA is a non-profit organization in the state of Texas that promotes common interests, proficiency and professionalism in college and university Physical Plant operations including: 1) The planning, development, administration, maintenance and operations of campus facilities; 2) Foster professional development and standards, share best practices, and better serve the objectives of institutions of higher education; 3) Promote interest, proficiency, and leadership in the administration of higher education facilities and physical plant operations; 4) As a state chapter of APPA (Leadership in Educational Facilities), aid and supplement the mission and work of the association in addition to the regional chapter CAPPA and the Texas Association of State Senior College and University Business Officers (TASSCUBO).

APPA is offering a bi-lingual Supervisor's Toolkit in San Antonio, we teach the class in two languages. Truthfully, Steve and I teach in one, Hilda and Jesus teach in two. We tend to think of literacy as binary - but it isn't. Consider that we all read and write at different levels, even when we're monolingual. Many of our supervisors and leads may understand the facilities terms they need in their second language, but this class introduces valuable leadership skills in their first. When we first taught this way, I learned a lot about communication, too. The class is in two weeks, and we have four seats remaining. If you have someone and you can’t afford it, let me know - GHaubold Consulting/FM Excel can provide one $500 scholarship.
