What can a NASA space mission from five decades ago teach us about modern leadership? According to our CEO Tony Bashir Sarsam, lots! This week is the 55th anniversary of Apollo 13, and in his latest blog post, Tony examines how this “successful failure” demonstrates the critical balance between mission commitment and strategic flexibility. We’ve all heard someone say, “That’s just too ‘inside baseball.’” when it comes to details that might be viewed as “too specialized” or “too in the weeds.” But when did we start viewing deep knowledge as problematic or excessive? Sometimes “too much information” is exactly what we need to find new solutions or overcome difficult challenges. Our CEO Tony Bashir Sarsam shares how – in a world where everyone has access to the same surface-level information – depth becomes a competitive advantage. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gAqSKw5v #insidebaseball #gobeyond #wecreatesolutions

SpartanNash reposted this
Earlier this week, ice storms crippled 10 counties in Northern Michigan. My heart goes out to those affected in these communities we serve through our retail stores – and many of our own Associates who were impacted as well. SpartanNash answered the need for emergency assistance, providing two truckloads of food and water through our nonprofit partner, Convoy of Hope. SpartanNash’s Core Behavior We Serve and Associates who embody it are what make donations like this possible. When disaster strikes, we answer the call for food solutions – especially in our own backyard. #weserve #foodsolutions #disasterrelief

It’s no secret that culture plays a vital role in a company’s success. Last week, SpartanNash CEO Tony Bashir Sarsam took the stage at the Economic Club of Grand Rapids to share how our People First culture drives performance – and positive Associate engagement. Since launching this cultural change in 2020, we’ve seen: ✅ 67% reduction in safety incidents ✅ 83% decrease in lost time injuries ✅ A workplace where Associates feel empowered to do their best work The key? As quoted by Tony: “A People First culture gets you through difficult times. Full stop.” Thank you for having us The Economic Club of Grand Rapids. #PeopleFirst #SpartanNash #WeWin
