Wasted food means wasted labor, land, water, and energy used in production and transportation. Reducing food waste supports a stronger economy, a healthier environment, and greater food security for all. #FoodWastePreventionWeek

SoSA has a few new faces! Eight new staff members met for training in February. They are fighting hunger and serving their communities from SoSA offices in Virginia, Florida, Mississippi, North Carolina, and Tennessee. They are pictured here in front of SoSA's historic sheepshed; this is where SoSA began rescuing food in 1979!

A Special Note from SoSA's Executive Director, Lynette Johnson: Hunger, food insecurity, and economic uncertainty are rising daily in the United States. But the Society of St. Andrew is still here, working in communities across the country to share fresh, nutritious produce with people in greatest need, at no cost to them. The grassroots human connections we make and the services we provide are more needed than ever. Our work says that hungry neighbors matter, that everyone deserves to have enough food to eat. Your support has made this work possible for 46 years, and with your continued help, we’ll keep on sending volunteers into fields to glean. With your continued help, we’ll keep on sharing healthy food through feeding agency partners in small towns and big cities—one serving at a time, every single day. There are still people working for good in the world, and you are one of them. Thank you for giving to the Society of St. Andrew to ensure there is healthy food on every table.

On this day, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who said in his Nobel Peace Prize Lecture, "Why should there be hunger and privation in any land, in any city, at any table when man has the resources and the scientific know-how to provide all mankind with the basic necessities of life? ... There is no deficit in human resources; the deficit is in human will." May we all have the will to continue Dr. King's work by caring for the marginalized. May we have the will to end injustice.
