The lock wall demolition work continues near Elizabeth, Pennsylvania. The #PittsburghDistrict removed the 750-foot dam in 2024, which opened 33 navigable miles to industry. The district removed the miter gates in February 2025, and the concrete demolition will continue until spring 2027. Once the walls are torn down to the river level, contractors will use explosives to further demolish the remaining wall. 🎥by Michel Sauret

Fay, S&B USA Construction successfully completed a key phase of the Susquehanna River Rail Bridge Project on time and with no safety incidents. This project consisted of the removal of ten remnant bridge piers. Over 3,000 cubic yards of material were carefully removed! These large concrete structures, originally part of an 1866 railroad bridge, stood 20 feet above the water between Perryville and Havre de Grace, Maryland. This work clears the way for Amtrak’s future construction of two new high-speed rail bridges along the Northeast Corridor. We are excited for our largest group of interns ever (28!) to join us this summer! Our interns received a welcome package with a few treats to help them through their semester before they join us to begin their careers. Our interns will be working across three offices, multiple projects and in 10 different departments! Whether they are in the field or in the office, our interns will see and experience the impact of infrastructure on communities, preparing them for a bright future in the construction industry.
