The inspiration for The Bright Spots in Healthcare concept started from a 1990 solution in Vietnam by Jerry Sternin. He gathered mothers to observe healthy children and found they fed their kids crabs, shrimp, and greens instead of rice, and gave more meals with fewer calories. By sharing these practices, the malnutrition rate dropped by 20% in two years. This shows the power of shared knowledge to solve big problems. Suzi Pigg, Vice President of Payers at TytoCare, shared on The Bright Spots in Healthcare podcast with Eric Glazer how convenience can truly change the game in virtual care. After reviewing claims data from 160,000 members, only 5% had used virtual care. But once TytoCare was introduced, utilization jumped 8x—and diagnoses in virtual settings rose by 59%. It’s simple: when care is easy to access, people actually show up. That’s how you drive real impact in digital health. #VirtualCareUtilization #HealthcareTechnology #TytoCareResults

On The Bright Spots in Healthcare podcast with Eric Glazer, Roni Mansur, Vice President of Product Management at Mass General Brigham Health Plan, shared how Covid changed the way employers think about health coverage. As companies hired remote workers across the U.S., traditional HMO plans no longer worked. Many had to switch to expensive PPO plans—until a new solution came along. Enter Complete Access EPO: it covers employees nationwide like a PPO, but without the high out-of-network costs. That small 3–4% premium shift (instead of 8–10%) made a big difference for employers and their teams. #AffordableHealthcare #RemoteWorkImpact #EPOPlan
