What a great opportunity to join the OGMP 2.0 Annual Implementation Conference in Brazil! The event brought together representatives from OGMP 2.0’s nearly 150 member companies, encompassing 42% of global oil and gas production and 80% of LNG flows. In 2024, Seapeak joined the Oil and Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP 2.0), a voluntary initiative launched by the United Nations Environment Programme to improve the monitoring, reporting, and verification of methane emissions from oil and gas operations. The main aim of this conference was to advance the transparency and accountability across the oil and gas sector, understanding the real problem, measurement, and ultimately, how to reduce the methane released. “What one can’t measure, one can’t manage.” Other key issues addressed during the event included: - OGMP 2.0 and the global methane landscape, from policy to finance; - The latest on methane science and efforts to integrate data across sources; - Solutions for measurement, reporting and verification of emissions; - Resources including Methane Alert and Response System (MARS). Seapeak are the first shipping company to join OGMP 2.0, positioning ourselves as a leader in global LNG transportation and allowing us to stay ahead of upcoming legislation.
