👏 👏 👏 Highlights from Career Development Session | SAPA SCS 2025 From Uncertainty to Opportunity: Chart Our Path with Confidence and Resilience On Saturday, April 13, the #SAPA SCS 2025 Career Development Session was opened by Willie Wu and brought together inspiring keynote talks, a dynamic panel discussion, and an immersive mock interview workshop—all designed to help attendees navigate uncertainty and accelerate their careers with confidence. 🗓️ 🗓️ Keynote Speech 🙌 Yu Cheng presented “Future Forward: Accelerating Career Development in a Changing World.” Yu inspired us to step beyond our comfort zones and reflect on how who we become—and who we choose to grow with—shapes long-term happiness. 🙌 Laura Flessner, in “Break Through Bias: Be Recognized as a Leader,” reframed leadership as a choice. Her empowering message: your difference is your superpower, and the best leaders are explorers. 🙌 Amy Spinney closed the keynotes with “Lead Your Career Like a Business,” leaving a powerful message: your career is your business—and you are the CEO. Strategic thinking and ownership are key to success. 🗓️ 🗓️ Panel Discussion These themes carried into a dynamic panel featuring Yu Cheng, Laura Flessner, Amy Spinney, Atiba Page, Russell Weiner, Diana Ji, Ran He, and Xia Liu, who shared advice on identifying opportunities, building future-ready skills, and standing out in transitions and interviews. 💡 Panel Takeaways: Network with intention—your next manager might be sitting beside you. Take risks and grow from them. Be proactive—plan early, especially for work authorization and sponsorship. Show initiative and curiosity to stand out. 🗓️ 🗓️ Mock Interview Workshop 🧭 The final session offered real-world insight into the interview process. Annie Shen, MS, MBA opened with an overview of the life sciences job market, followed by Jianjian Guo introducing the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—for answering behavioral questions. 🎤 Three brave volunteers participated in a live mock interview, receiving candid, constructive feedback from Atiba Page, Diana Ji, and Kejun Zhu. Their honest reflections and expert advice helped demystify what makes candidates memorable and compelling. ✨ The atmosphere buzzed with insight and connection.
