Bringing physical and spiritual aid to hurting people worldwide.

About us

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ. For 40 years, Samaritan's Purse has done our utmost to follow Christ's command by going to the aid of the world's poor, sick, and suffering. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Our emergency relief programs provide desperately needed assistance to victims of natural disaster, war, disease, and famine. As we offer food, water, and temporary shelter, we meet critical needs and give people a chance to rebuild their lives. Our community development and vocational programs in impoverished villages and neighborhoods help people break the cycle of poverty and give them hope for a better tomorrow. We impact the lives of vulnerable children through educational, feeding, clothing, and shelter programs that let them know they are not forgotten. We provide first-class treatment in the Name of the Great Physician through our medical projects, as well as supplying mission hospitals with much needed equipment and supplies.

  • “God puts those broken pieces back together in something beautiful and something new.” – Stephanie, McNairy County, TN Two years ago, an EF-3 tornado destroyed Stephanie’s home and left her husband with serious injuries. Today, she’s back in that same Tennessee community—not as someone in need, but as a volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse. As she helped another family sift through the aftermath of a devastating storm, she found something she never recovered from her own home: a set of wedding china and crystal glasses, miraculously unbroken beneath the debris. Piece by piece, she carefully wrapped each item—knowing firsthand the power a single teacup can hold when it’s all that remains of a life once lived. At Samaritan’s Purse, we are grateful for volunteers like Stephanie who show up, share the love of Christ, and bring hope to suffering families. • Hope Blooms in Myanmar! 🌼💛 The Padauk, Myanmar’s national flower, blooms just once a year and only for a single day. It symbolizes resilience and strength—qualities deeply needed in the wake of the recent earthquake. This morning, our Emergency Field Hospital staff were surprised with bundles of Padauk from local families—a heartfelt gesture of gratitude for the care they’re receiving. “The patients see the yellow flower in your hair and think, ‘Wow, they love our Padauk flower!’” shared a local interpreter serving with our team. To our staff, these flowers were a gift from the Lord—an encouraging reminder of the hope we have in Him, even in the hardest moments of life. Please join us in thanking God for this encouraging day in Myanmar as we continue to provide life-saving care. To learn more about our Myanmar Earthquake Response, please visit SamaritansPurse.org.

  • U Bo Lay and his family sat quietly, waiting as the Samaritan’s Purse team checked his vitals and prepared him for surgery. When the nurse asked when he had last eaten and whether he was in pain, he simply shook his head. “No.” For U Bo, pain came when a tall pillar collapsed on him during the earthquake—severing his leg from his body. “That pain was so serious… I can’t even express how unbearable it was,” he said. Just over a week after the initial amputation, Samaritan’s Purse surgeons examined the wound and determined a revision was necessary. One of our surgeon's remarked, “He must have been in a lot of pain with this.” Please pray for U Bo Lay and all those suffering—physically and emotionally—in the aftermath of the earthquake in Myanmar. Pray that our teams can be a reflection of God's love as they provide life-saving care at our Emergency Field Hospital. To learn more or get involved, visit SamaritansPurse.org.
