Last week, the Employee Engagement Committee at Rahway received a snack donation for hospital staff that was generously donated by the Valley Road Elementary School in Clark. The school’s staff, students and parents held a fundraiser to purchase snacks as a way to show appreciation for the RWJUH Rahway health care team. The PCA/Tech Council at RWJUH Rahway organized a shoe/sock drive to provide our patients who do not have shoes/socks when in the hospital or being discharged. The goal was set at a high mark of 50 pairs over the past month, but knowing our hospital and extended families, we have well over 60 pairs with almost 80 pairs of socks. This was an amazing testimonial to our commitment to the community. #LetsBeHealthyTogether

We're proud to announce that RWJBarnabas Health is expanding its partnership with the Princeton-based nonprofit Share My Meals across the health system to help feed more New Jersey families struggling with hunger. RWJBarnabas Health launched a pilot program last year at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset in which surplus meals from the cafeteria were donated to Share My Meals to help support local families experiencing food insecurity. The program yielded over 5,200 meals served, saved 3.25 tons of food, and avoided 29,300 pounds of carbon emissions in the first year. Through this relationship with Share My Meals, each participating health system hospital has identified local partner organizations – such as a food pantry, soup kitchen or other community-focused entity – to donate surplus meals to, ensuring that nutritious food reaches those in need.
