Our rare disease team had the pleasure of engaging in a thoughtful discussion on advancing the ultra-rare model in today’s evolving scientific landscape with UC San Diego leadership, including Kit Pogliano, Barbara Jung, Chris Sickels, Weston Hall, and rare disease thought leader, Nicholas Vita. It was an insightful conversation on the opportunities and challenges in rare disease research, and we’re grateful for the collaboration in driving meaningful progress in the rare disease community.

We’re excited to celebrate our Director of Research, Joe Katakowski, as he takes the stage on April 1st at INTERPHEX Global! Joe will be sharing RTW Foundation’s mission with Deanna Portero from the Orphan Therapeutics Accelerator, after she highlights the urgent need for a sustainable path forward in ultra-rare disease drug development. Following Deanna's presentation, Joe and Deanna will discuss how biotechnology manufacturing stakeholders can support ultra-rare communities at every stage of therapy development. We’re proud to have Joe representing our work and pushing forward solutions for rare disease patients! #INTERPHEX #RareDisease #Biotech

This week, about 75 #BioQuest students brainstormed with Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences graduate students and mentors to create innovative solutions to community health challenges. Students presented creative ideas including apps, wearable devices, and artificial intelligence in a Shark Tank style pitch competition. A huge thanks to our partners at Hunts Point Alliance for Children (HPAC), Futures Ignite, Areté Education Inc., Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences and Tri-Institutional Minority Society graduate students for bringing this event to life! #STEM #Mentoring #Health #Innovation

We’re excited to see the impact of our support in the Hamilton-Madison House Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Through our partnership, this program has been able to bridge the gap in culturally competent mental health care. In 2023-2024, Postdoc Fellows Jackson Hsu and Kaori Tanizawa-Preschel provided vital care to 40 patients in the community. Their work continues to expand access to mental health services and support, thanks to the dedicated fellows and the collaboration with Hamilton-Madison House. Together, we’re investing in the future of mental health professionals and ensuring more individuals receive the care they need. #MentalHealth #HealthEquity
