Each year, more than 16 million people visit the Richmond Region, and they contribute close to $2.9 billion to the local economy. Tourism generates almost 24,000 jobs in the Richmond Region. Richmond Region Tourism is a private, not-for-profit dedicated to promoting the Region to meeting, convention and sports event planners, tour operators and leisure travelers. The organization represents the cities of Richmond and Colonial Heights, the town of Ashland and four counties: Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico and New Kent. Richmond Region Tourism operates Visitor Centers at the Robinson House at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Richmond International Airport. As the Region’s destination organization, we are experts who have a deep love for the community in which we live, work and play. We enrich the lives of our residents and visitors by sharing the unique culture and humanity that is the Richmond Region. We generate economic prosperity through tourism by attracting conventions, meetings, sports tournaments, and visitors and ensuring that all have an unforgettable experience. We enhance the quality of life for the people in our community by supporting the places that make the Richmond Region wonderful. The Richmond Region was recently recognized as one of the best Cities for Single Retirees to live in. According to the article the city rates well in terms of walkability which is good news for the almost 14% of the population who are 65 and older.
