About us
Resolution Copper is Arizona Copper. Our project, a proposed mine outside of Phoenix, Arizona, has the potential to support nearly 25% of U.S. copper demand, giving Americans access to a critical resource for our everyday lives and the clean energy transition. The copper from the mine will be used to produce vital products that modern society depends upon, such as electric vehicles, smartphones, renewable electricity generation and MRI scanners. Resolution Copper will also deliver significant economic growth to nearby communities and the state of Arizona by providing jobs, tax revenue, and increased local spending over the project’s 60-year lifespan. We are committed to being good stewards of the environment, protecting culture and heritage in the areas where we operate, and contributing to the long-term success of our communities. The project is a joint venture owned by Rio Tinto (55%) and BHP (45%).

💧 Facility Upgrade Complete! Our Water Treatment Plant team recently moved into their new control center—expanding from 480 sq. ft. to 2,160 sq. ft. This six-month project was a cross-departmental effort, with major contributions from Surface Services, Electrical, Maintenance, IS&T, and more. The upgrade means better equipment, improved workflows, a dedicated supervisor office, and a big boost in team morale. Thank you to the whole team at Resolution Copper in Arizona for having me this week. It was fantastic to visit a site I have heard so much about and see the substantial infrastructure and capable team already have in place. I got to go underground right down to 6776ft below surface to experience the challenging hot and wet environment we are dealing with for myself, saw probably the best copper containing core I’ll ever see and met with some of our San Carlos Apache employees to better understand the importance of the land to the tribes. At a time when many eyes are on critical minerals and US domestic supply, I’m convinced we can make real progress in 2025 to put Resolution on the path towards first copper production.

KJJZ Radio out of Phoenix, AZ recently aired a compelling segment on Resolution Copper’s proposed mine in Superior, AZ, featuring an interview with their President and GM, Vicky Peacey. According to the IEF - International Energy Forum, up to 194 new large copper mines will be needed over the next three decades to meet the demands of a growing clean energy economy. Resolution Copper is poised to help meet this demand with its proposed project, which aims to extract 40 billion pounds of copper—enough to supply a quarter of the nation’s annual copper needs. Beyond its mineral output, the project offers a once-in-a-generation economic boost: creating approximately 1,500 direct jobs, generating $270 million in annual wages, and contributing around $300 million in yearly tax revenue to Arizona. Despite facing political challenges and a lengthy permitting process, Resolution Copper remains committed to responsible mining. The company has already invested over $2 billion in development and permitting efforts, while building strong partnerships with local governments, nonprofits, and tribal communities.
