In March 2025, I had the opportunity to train government officials from various departments in #Tanzania on how to use #GeospatialInformationSystem (#GIS) tools, with a focus on exploring available #OpenSource solutions that can support their work in #DecisionMaking especially for advancing #UrbanResilience. We explored several open-source tools and discussed how to access publicly available geospatial data for remote areas in #Tanzania where there is no available geospatial data, including datasets from the #ClimateRiskDatabase (#CRD), developed by Resilience Academy with support from GeoSolutions The training also highlighted practical use cases where open-source technologies can be applied immediately without conflicting with existing policies or regulations. Yesterday, I attended the Resilience Academy ( RA) partnership meeting with fellow RA experts and partners. RA empowers young people to tackle urban challenges and promote resilient urban development in which 1,400+ students trained,135+ datasets & 81+ e-learning materials published. Excited to share that I’ve completed CSC’s Geocomputing on Supercomputers training! This course provided advanced skills in processing and analysing geospatial data using high-performance computing (HPC).
