“I’ve paid back more than I borrowed… and I still owe thousands.” This is the reality for too many borrowers like those impacted by the Sweet v. Cardona lawsuit. Despite attending schools deemed predatory and applying for loan relief multiple times, borrowers are being ignored, denied, or left without explanation, while interest continues to add up. This isn’t just unfair. It’s exhausting! If this is your story too, know you’re not alone and you do have options: 1. 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘍𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘈𝘪𝘥 𝘖𝘮𝘣𝘶𝘥𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘯 or the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Keeping records of each attempt can strengthen your case. There’s been a lot of misunderstanding about what the U.S. Department of Education actually does and what it doesn’t do. Contrary to popular belief, it does not set school curriculums or run local districts. Instead, it focuses on funding, policy, and federal student loans, overseeing a $1.7 trillion loan portfolio. But now, major changes are happening. The Department of Education is being dismantled, and its student loan management is shifting to the Small Business Administration (SBA), an agency traditionally focused on entrepreneurship, not education.
