According to preliminary government satellite data, deforestation in Brazil's Amazon Rainforest has slowed by almost 50%, compared to prior years. This comes after the start of Brazilian President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva's "Deforestation Zero" by 2030 campaign. Raise Green is celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the IRA! President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act 2 years ago, and it is the largest investment in climate in U.S. History! The recent award of $27 Billion to a coalition of Green Banks, CDFIs and other non profits to build projects in low income and disadvantaged communities is about to change the face of climate justice. Raise Green had the opportunity to attend the Bloomberg Green Festival in Seattle the weekend of July 12th! The event took place at the Seattle Center, and created space for conversations surrounding sustainability, culture, climate tech and environmental policy! We heard from notable figures in the environmental sector, including voting rights activist Stacey Abrams, Senior Vice President & Chief Scientist of the Environmental Defense Fund Steven Hamburg, Bloomberg Journalists, and even Washington State Governor Jay Inslee.  Some of the key topics discussed were:   ➡️ Potential benefits & drawbacks of Climate Tech and AI ➡️ Action towards state level climate policy  ➡️ Grassroots & community climate initiatives ➡️ Climate Transparency in oil & gas industries  ➡️ Decarbonization efforts   We also got to attend the Bloomberg Green Docs Film Festival, and observed the work of directors Andrew Nadkarni, and Sarah Keo & Jeff Orlowski whose films grasp important climate topics: ➡️ Andrew Nadkarni; Between Earth and Sky A documentary exploring research of ecologist Nalini Nadkarni and the relationship between her personal life & stories and her studies of forest canopy disturbances. ➡️ Sarah Keo & Jeff Orlowski-Yang; Chasing Time A film following James Balog and his team as they come together for a final time to finish the Extreme Ice Survey Project, highlighting climate change and the many ways climate advocacy can take shape. #bloomberggreenfestival #sustainability #greenfuture
