The Tri-Valley Innovation Fair was filled with the cutting-edge tech, local talent, space exhibits, and hands-on science but there was something special and unexpected A cultural Aztec Dance Group Now, as a Mexican-American, it was surreal and prideful standing between the future of innovation and the traditions of my possible ancestors Now there is depth in these performances. These dances aren’t random. They reflect an understanding of seasons, astronomy, and agriculture Also, can I sneak in a "did you know??" The Mesoamericans used chinampas, a form of hydroponics, to grow crops without soil. That same technique? It’s now being adapted for space farming aboard the ISS. Culture and innovation aren’t separate. They build on one another This is what I took away: Culture is often overlooked in professional spaces, but it grounds us just as much as innovation propels us. Representation at events like the Quest Science Center Innovation Fair matters. It reminds us that the past still teaches. Curious to hear from you: How do you incorporate culture into your work life? Do you feel it elevates you—or are you still figuring that out? Does culture have a place in the workplace? Shoutout to Monya Lane for being part of the vision to bring this to the trivalley Thank you
