The At the Build My Future event today in Springfield, MO, ROBERTS teamed up with Floor Covering Education Foundation, Advanced Flooring Tech and The Carpet Shoppe to show high schoolers some basics in carpet installation. Events like these are a fantastic way to introduce students to flooring installation as a great career option, plus the kids had a ton of fun learning how to cut and seam carpet.

5 things every female in the trades should know: 👉 Asking for help does NOT make you weak or stupid. Asking for help ensures you get the job done right and efficiently. 👉 Your body AND mind might be exhausted after the day, especially during your first couple of weeks in construction. Combining physical labor with mental stimulation is twice as draining. 👉 Humor is typical on job sites. Be prepared for the endless banter! (If jokes are extremely inappropriate, of course stop it. BUT humor that is a little bit “too far” is part of the construction culture.) 👉 If you don’t feel safe, you should speak up. Safety should be the #1 priority of your boss. Whether it’s about safety equipment or about someone treating you poorly, you should address it. No job is worth feeling unsafe at. 👉 The industry is trying to encourage more female workers to help with the labor shortage. The products QEP has donated to communities nationwide continue to make a meaningful difference—this time, by supporting the Deerfield Beach Rotary Club's beach clean-up efforts this weekend.
