As we celebrate Earth Month, we recognize our avian protection program, which is all about promoting bird safety and improving electric system reliability. Every year we record and respond to bird-caused outages and implement procedures or develop projects to reduce the risk of reoccurrence. Last year we reviewed 38 construction projects to ensure that they were designed avian-safe. We created job aids to assist project planners and engineers with applying these standards, and to assist our field employees and contractors when responding to outages caused by birds. The utility industry will see more change in the next 30 years than in the past 50, with our customers playing a pivotal role in this new energy landscape. Aaron August, PSE’s SVP, Chief Customer and Transformation Officer, gave the keynote speech at the Washington Economic Development Association 2025 Winter/Spring Conference last week, where he emphasized the importance of collaborating with our community partners. By coming together early to discuss plans and investments, we can make the best use of our collective resources, while redefining the energy system of the future together. 📸: Washington Economic Development Association

PSE applauds OLYMPIA SCHOOL DISTRICT on its impressive energy-saving achievement. They have participated in multiple PSE energy efficiency programs. Through the CSEM program alone, they saved over 450,000 kWh of electricity and 35,000 therms of natural gas in just two years. These energy-efficiency changes have resulted in more than $125,000 in savings - money that can be reinvested directly into enhancing experiences for students, teachers and staff. Renewable energy comes from natural sources that replenish themselves — like the sun that rises each morning and the wind that sweeps across our region. These sources create clean power without producing carbon emissions that harm the environment. Small changes add up; by choosing renewable energy for your business, you're helping create a more sustainable future for our community. Bellevue and the Eastside are growing rapidly and we need to ensure that we’re planning for this growth so that we’re able to meet our customers’ expectations for energy that is cleaner, as well as safe and reliable. Our President and CEO, Mary Kipp, met with local community and business leaders at the Bellevue Rotary Club meeting earlier this week, to talk about the rapidly evolving energy landscape and how PSE is planning for the future.
