Introducing Omega, the first manufacturable chipset for photonic quantum computing. Designed by PsiQuantum and manufactured at GlobalFoundries, this chipset contains all the advanced photonic components required for million-qubit-scale quantum computers. Featured in a newly published paper in Nature Magazine, every photonic component necessary is demonstrated with beyond-state-of-the-art performance. The paper shows high-fidelity qubit operations, and a simple, long-range chip-to-chip qubit interconnect – a key enabler to scale that has remained elusive for other technologies. The chips are made in a high-volume semiconductor fab, representing a new level of technical maturity and scale in a field that is often thought of as being confined to research labs. Building the world’s first useful quantum computers.
About us
Quantum computing will be a world-changing technology with the potential to unlock powerful advances in medicine, energy, finance and beyond. At PsiQuantum, we’re focused on building the world’s first useful quantum computer. A useful quantum computer requires at least 1,000,000 qubits and error correction. We believe photonics is the only path to building a useful quantum computer. Our team at PsiQuantum is a mix of quantum physicists, semiconductor, systems, and software engineers, system architects and more. Error correction is at the centre of everything we do; and we focus on solving real-world problems. If you’re interested in joining our team, we are always open to hearing from exceptional people interested in working on one of the defining technologies of our lifetime.

Quantum computing offers a radically new approach to modeling catalytic reactions, going beyond classical approximations to capture the full complexity of chemical dynamics. Our latest research with Stanford University lays out an end-to-end state-of-the-art framework to simulate real-time chemical reactions on a quantum computer, unlocking new possibilities for catalyst design, materials science, and cleaner energy solutions. PsiQuantum has entered into a new $10.8M contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to deliver quantum circuits on our Omega chipset. These chips will integrate our Barium Titanate (BTO) electro-optic phase shifters—believed to be the highest-performing in the world—into AFRL-designed circuits for Air Force validation. Once designed, constructed, and screened for performance, PsiQuantum will deliver these quantum chips to AFRL, who will then validate their capabilities to address other Air Force use cases. Happy World Quantum Day! Please join me in recognizing all the scientists and engineers -- past and present -- for advancing quantum science and technology and helping us unlock our quantum future. Even the date itself is significant: 4.14 comes from the rounded first three digits of Planck’s constant. I see the future of computing as a trinity, made up of classical computing, AI computing, and quantum computing. These three pillars working together will unlock incredible possibilities in the years to come, solving challenges in ways that we can't even imagine. Companies like PsiQuantum, who is building the world’s first utility-scale, million-qubit quantum computer, are bringing us closer to this vision every day. What a thrilling time! https://lnkd.in/gphtjecB

Today on #WorldQuantumDay, we celebrate the place Australia holds at the forefront of quantum computing and reflect on its long and proud history of producing world-leading quantum research. This photo was taken some 20 years ago at The University of Queensland of PsiQuantum co-founder & CEO Prof. Jeremy O'Brien, PsiQuantum Australia Chief Technical Director Geoff Pryde, and Professor Andrew White working on a controlled-NOT gate, essentially the first quantum transistor for photons. Today, our team of 450+ is working towards realizing this technology at scale and building the world’s first useful quantum computer in Brisbane, right where it all started.

Before PsiQuantum, our co-founders Jeremy O'Brien and Pete Shadbolt put the very first quantum processor on the cloud. This 2-qubit QPU, aptly named “Qcloud,” launched at the British Science Festival in 2013 and now resides at the British Science Museum—proudly displayed next to an Enigma machine and Babbage difference engine.

PsiQuantum is now building superconducting single-photon detectors by the millions in a commercial semiconductor foundry. Probably the most exotic component in our Omega stack, the waveguide-integrated superconducting single-photon detector can count single particles of light with near-100% efficiency. In our recent Nature paper, we show the incredible wafer-scale uniformity and process control that is inherited from a tier-one fab — leading to beyond-state-of-the-art device performance. https://lnkd.in/ghQ-bbhR
