Meet Sarah Manaresi, our Premier Health Running Medicine and Performance Program Runner of the Month! She recently conquered the Dopey Challenge—a legendary four-day race series at Walt Disney World featuring a 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon. That’s 48.6 miles in just four days!
Why She Runs
Sarah wasn’t always a runner. She started at 31 years old after having her second child, inspired by her husband’s running journey. She bought a pair of discount-store running shoes and set out on her first goal: a 5K at the Air Force Marathon Weekend.
Since then, she’s kept pushing herself to new milestones. But for Sarah, running is about more than races and medals—it’s about family. Her kids are competitive runners—her oldest runs for a D2 college team, and her youngest competes for Centerville High School.
“I’ll never match their speed,” Sarah says, “but I can share what I’ve learned—recovery tips, nutrition hacks, how to push through setbacks. They’ve seen my journey, and they trust the same medical team I’ve worked with. That means everything.”
Setbacks and Comebacks
Just four days before the 2022 Columbus Half Marathon, Sarah was sidelined by intense knee pain. An MRI from Dr. Paul Krebs at the Premier Health Running Medicine and Performance Program revealed a cyst behind her kneecap. She underwent surgery with Dr. Eric Fester at Premier Orthopedics and tackled months of rehab with Victoria Smith, DPT, and Kevin Sheehan, DPT.
Less than two years later, she was back—running multiple half marathons and two full marathons, including the Dopey Challenge!
