  • Will you be attending the Inclusiv Conference at the end of the month? If so, we hope to see you there! Our own Kerala Taylor, CUDE is joining forces with Terri Mickelsen, CEO of Clean Energy Credit Union; Stephen Pagenstecher, CUDE, Chief Innovation Officer at Point West Credit Union; and Jerome Emanuel, Chief Lending Officer at Alternatives Federal Credit Union to discuss healthy growth for your credit union in this age of volatility and uncertainty. This interactive session will be jam packed with examples of innovative, inspiring initiatives your credit union peers have embarked on to unstick themselves from the reactivity trap and supercharge their impact efforts.   Key takeaways: - Go beyond demographics to truly understand your members  - Preserve your personal touch and community focus in the digital age   - Foster non-transactional partnerships that go beyond the Big Check to generate meaningful impact  - Leverage the cooperative principles to attract younger members and recruit values-aligned talent  And if your credit union is looking to redesign its website this year or next, please come chat with Kerala or Thomas Huskey, MBA at booth 13! We'd love to meet you and walk you through our process and approach.

  • 🎉 Recently got word that our latest CUInsight article, "Are you talking to your members about what’s at stake if credit unions lose their tax-exempt status?" is the No. 1 trending article on CUInsight.com! 🎉 Although efforts to maintain credit unions' tax-exempt status tend to take on a higher level of urgency whenever a new administration moves into the Oval Office, credit union leaders are more concerned than usual this year. According to a recent interview with Michael Goad, CEO of the $2.4-billion Dow Credit Union, anyone who believes in the value of credit unions has reason to be worried. “If we do lose our tax exemption, I do think one reason is we have been a victim of our own success. Credit unions have clearly taken a lot of market share in the retail banking space.” And Jim Nussle, President and CEO of America's Credit Unions, reported from the GAC that credit unions “…need to recognize that if we’re not at the table telling our story, we may definitely be on the menu.” Credit union leaders are, of course, the first line of connection and defense when it comes to making sure the executive and legislative branches understand the role credit unions play in the economic well-being of our country. But at 140 million strong, credit union members have an essential role to play, too. And it’s up to credit union marketers to give them the tools and information they need to do that. This is a valuable opportunity to educate members about the credit union difference—don't let it go to waste! Here are four things to keep in mind: https://lnkd.in/ge5zabPr

  • Are you starting to feel like you're spending a lot of your energy jumping from crisis to crisis? You're not alone. Between natural disasters, economic volatility, and political chaos, there is a lot to respond to these days. It’s important, of course, for credit unions to create contingency plans and prepare for crisis. But it’s equally important to escape the reactivity trap by proactively creating opportunities for joy and connection. That’s precisely what Abilene Teachers FCU has done with 325 Day, an event with a name that refers both to its date and the credit union’s local area code. The idea is to celebrate local businesses, gather community members, and most importantly, have fun! This month, we’re joined by Abilene Teacher FCU’s Community Development Officer, Elizabeth Gray, and Marketing Director, Kathy Mayer, to talk about the evolution of the event and its growing impact. We also address this month’s BIG question: During an era when so much is moving online, why is a sense of place still important and how does your credit union benefit by bringing people together in real life?
