  • Today, we had the honor of attending the grand opening of the new Oncology Center at Nemours Hospital in Wilmington, DE! 🎉 At Hanwha Philly Shipyard, we are deeply committed to supporting our community. During summer of 2024 we proudly donated a special bell from Liberty Bay, an Aframax tanker built in 2015 right here in our yard. This cherished item was installed in the new Oncology Center, where brave children can ring it to celebrate completing their final treatments, receiving the wonderful news that they are cancer-free, or going into remission. Each joyful sound will resonate with resilience and hope, and we feel privileged to be part of these significant milestones. Our hearts are especially with families of our Hanwha Philly Shipyard employees who have close ties to supporting loved ones through their fight. Their stories inspire us every day to stand by children facing similar challenges and also serve as a reminder of the powerful strength these young warriors possess. Together, help us celebrate unforgettable memories for the brave children at Nemours Hospital. 💖

  • Celebrating Women's History Month! At Hanwha Philly Shipyard, we honor the incredible contributions of women in maritime history, particularly during World War II when women stepped into shipyards like never before. With nearly 65% of shipyard workers being women at the height of the shipbuilding boom, they not only filled vital roles but thrived in them, proving their ability to outshine stereotypes and expectations. These trailblazers brought financial and social independence, transforming the workforce and their lives forever. We're grateful for their legacy and are committed to continuing this spirit of empowerment and innovation in our shipbuilding community. Let's honor these pioneering women who "made sparks" and paved the way for future generations! **Source:** US National Park Service https://lnkd.in/gEz8SeT

  • This week we celebrated a significant milestone with the keel laying of the fifth and final vessel in the National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) program! This final vessel is destined for the California State University Maritime Academy, and we are incredibly proud to reach this milestone alongside our partners at TOTE Services and the Maritime Administration - MARAD. This program not only enhances maritime education but also ensures we are building safe, state-of-the-art vessels for the future generation of mariners. Together, we are reimagining maritime training. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this groundbreaking achievement! 📸PC: Maritime Administration - MARAD

  • We were honored to welcome Senator Mark Kelly and Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon to Hanwha Philly Shipyard! During the visit, they toured our facilities, including the State of Maine National Security Multi-Mission Vessel, and met with many of our employees and apprentices along the way. Senator Kelly even shared a moment with a few of our Kings Point alumni! Senator Kelly highlighted the importance of strengthening the U.S. maritime industry through the bipartisan SHIPS for America Act, which aims to rebuild the U.S. shipyard base, and expand efforts to recruit, train, and retain skilled mariners and shipyard workers. We're proud to be part of the future of American shipbuilding and grateful for the support of leaders like Senator Kelly and Congresswoman Scanlon. Thank you for visiting and for your ongoing support for the maritime industry!
