🌟 Introducing Impact Icons: Celebrating Black Nonprofit Leaders We're excited to launch a new initiative to spotlight visionary Black leaders in social impact this Black History Month. Here's why this matters: Despite the promises of 2020, nonprofit leadership still doesn't reflect our communities. A study from Candid showed that since 2020, there were no major shifts in the overall racial representation of nonprofit CEOs at the sector level. As a Black owned business working with many underrepresented leaders, we see the impact of this firsthand. And we know how valuable amplification and awareness can be for leaders doing the work. With that, we're looking to uplift and amplify the work of visionaries building our future right now. Whether you’re tackling education equity or climate justice, working locally or globally, we want to highlight leaders demonstrating that history isn't just something we study – it's something we're actively creating. What do Trump's Executive Orders mean for nonprofits? There's lots of noise — and not yet a lot of clarity — around the new administration's first Executive Orders. At the same time, there's understandable reason for alarm about the potential impacts on many members of our communities, from LGBTQ+ people to our immigrant neighbors. National Council of Nonprofits put together this helpful chart tracking the EOs that may affect nonprofits, and their potential impact. As you'll see, there's still many questions, but if your organization is engaging with DEI programs, government grants & contracts, civic engagement, immigration, or other subsectors — definitely worth a bookmark (link in comments) as they'll continue to update the document as a resource.

Congratulations to our Co-Founder and COO, Caitlin Kawaguchi, for her feature in this list from The New School highlighting businesses making an impact! The Giving Black Fund was an initiative we launched to support organizations led by Black & LGBTQ+ leaders who have historically experienced underinvestment. We were thrilled to support Green City Force and their powerful work to train young leaders to power a green and inclusive economy, through service. We are getting ready to launch our next initiative to elevate and uplift Black nonprofit leaders next month — stay tuned for more soon! 👀
