With over 106,000 patients are on the national transplant waitlist - of which 86% await a kidney - we're honored to celebrate the innovative approaches that are enabling more patients to receive the care they need. Just announced today, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, one of the oldest and largest kidney transplant programs in the country, is the first in Tennessee, and one of the first in the entire Southeast, to use the Paragonix KidneyVault System to do just that. The adoption of KidneyVault is the latest advancement in Vanderbilt Health’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology in the organ transplantation process. At Paragonix, we're striving to provide best-in-class care to protect their most precious gifts, and support the thousands of patients that still await a donation. We had a fantastic discussion with Gary Schwartz, MD on the intricacies of thoracic transplantation in the most recent podcast episode of Every Possible Angle - including a one-of-a-kind procurement story where the plane experienced an unexpected loss in cabin pressure. First experience with the Kidney Vault- We recently accepted an aggressive kidney offer from Arizona. The kidney was shipped on a commercial flight on the Kidney Vault. We were able to look at the location of the kidney as well as pump numbers throughout the course of the flight as well as the time we waited for kidney Bx and crossmatch results. Logistics were such that the cold ischemic time on the kidney was a little over 47 hours. The kidney reperfused very well and made urine on the table with primary graft function in the recipient. What I like about the Vault is that the organ is completely submerged in preservative fluid which ensures that the entire organ is maintained at a stable temperature all the time. Remote access to all the pump data and location is ofcourse fantastic. All in all, very pleased with our first experience with the Paragonix Kidney Vault. I’ve started asking other OPOs if they are able to ship kidneys on the Vault especially when dealing with higher cold times. #paragonix #kidneyvault #UTMC

Our team was proud to demonstrate an advanced hypothermic preservation solution for all solid organs.

Last week at our headquarters, we had the privilege of hosting Dr. Brittany Clayborne, a remarkable individual who embodies the utmost resilience and determination. As a heart transplant recipient, cancer survivor, author, mother, and motivational speaker, Dr. Clayborne exemplifies the grace, perseverance, and the little bit of style that can be used to overcome the greatest of challenges.
