About us
The OSU Foundation partners with the university to engage the OSU community, inspire investment and steward resources to enhance the university’s impact. The OSU Foundation, which celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2023, is a nonprofit organization, separate from the university, and governed by a Board of Trustees. In 2017, the OSU Foundation integrated the OSU Alumni Association, which was founded in 1873. The Foundation employs more than 165 professionals. While building relationships with alumni and friends is a university-wide responsibility, all fundraising positions are housed in the OSU Foundation. The Foundation aspires to be one of the best foundations in North America and acts in alignment with the university. As of June 30, 2023, the Foundation holds assets surpassing $1 billion and manages an endowment of $827+ million. Donors gave $168.7 million in fiscal year 2023. In 2023, it celebrated its 500th $1 million cumulative donor and more than $3 billion in cumulative private support from its generous donors. In October 2022, the Foundation publicly launched Believe It: The Campaign for OSU, the university’s second comprehensive fundraising and engagement campaign, with a $1.75 billion goal for student and faculty support, facilities and equipment and strategic initiatives. Donors have stepped forward with over $1 billion in gifts since the campaign began in 2017. The first Campaign for OSU concluded in 2014, having raised $1.14 billion in ten years, which made OSU one of only two public universities at the time to have had a first campaign of $1 billion or more and one of just 35 public universities to cross the billion-dollar mark in a campaign. The OSU Foundation, under the leadership of CEO and President Shawn L. Scoville, seeks to build on this momentum to support OSU’s aspirations, establish industry-leading fundraising and engagement growth and further energize donors, alumni and volunteers to engage with the university.

Oregon State University student and Goldwater Scholar Madalyn Gragg grew up in a rural community and graduated from high school with a class of about 25 students. Financial resources and educational opportunities were both limited. In fact, physics was never offered while she was there. When she got to OSU, she was afraid she would never catch up. Today, she’s an Oregon State University Honors College student pursuing a double major in physics and mechanical engineering – and the winner of a national Goldwater Scholarship for her research. As a peer instructor in the Oregon State University College of Science Learning Assistant Program, Gragg helps other students learn that they, too, can become proficient in physics. “It’s amazing to me that a field I knew nothing about has become my life’s passion,” she says. “I’m grateful to the donors who support the Learning Assistant Program, and to everyone who supports students like me through scholarships. For so many of us, the biggest barrier to education is not capability: it’s cost.” College of Engineering – Oregon State University #BelieveIt #STEM #STEAM #OregonState #HonorsCollege #ScholarshipSupport #StudentSuccess

We are grateful to lead donor Tillamook County Creamery Association and all the donors who made the renovation of Withycombe Hall possible. And, thank you to all who joined Oregon State University President Jayathi Murthy and Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences Sciences Dean Staci Simonich for the grand reopening celebration of Withycombe Hall last Friday, April 11. Our community of donors, alumni, students, faculty and friends gathered for a program, reception and tours, including: - a dairy pilot plant, the Tillamook Dairy Innovators Lab; - a new state-of-the-art research and teaching winery and the Erath Family Foundation Winery Laboratory; - 21st century lab and classroom space to prepare animal and rangeland sciences students for the future; - and a new Beaver Classic Creamery selling delicious student-made cheeses, honey, ice cream and more. Thanks to Dean Staci Simonich for her leadership, which brought this long-dreamed-of project to reality. Thanks to the speakers in our program, including David Booth, president and CEO of Tillamook County Creamery Association; Shelly Boshart Davis, ’03, representative, District 15; and Tom Nakano, ’89, representing the OSU Foundation’s Board of Trustees. As President Murthy said in her remarks, “The OSU strategic plan prioritizes deepening relationships with industry, driving innovation and fueling the workforce... and in this room, you can feel so many possibilities, so many ways we are working together to serve students, the food and beverage sector (one of our four priority business sectors) and the Oregon economy.” AND, now we have a great new place on campus to buy cheese, honey and ice cream (including a new favor created for President Murthy, CHAIathy Murthy), among others, on our campus! #BelieveIt #EconomicDevelopment #WorkforceDevelopment #FoodAndBeverageSector

On April 3, Oregon State University advocates – including students, alumni and community supporters – met with dozens of legislators and their staff to talk about the vital role OSU plays for the state of Oregon and the need for expanded investment to support students, improve facilities on the Corvallis campus and continue growing Oregon State University-Cascades so it can serve the needs of Central Oregon. Legislative advocacy is one of the most impactful ways to build support for OSU and higher education. The Beaver Caucus is grateful to have a group of enthusiastic and knowledgeable advocates who always answer the call. Jayathi Murthy Kristin Watkins Andy Foster Rebecca Robinson Sherman Bloomer
