During #OHNWeek, Overland Park Regional Medical Center joins our larger HCA Healthcare network in spotlighting the critical role occupational health nurses play in keeping our colleagues protected, safe and healthy. Occupational health nurses establish and implement guidelines to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses and promote healthy work environments. HCA Midwest Health recently held a media event with Kansas Lt. Governor, David Toland, to announce the State’s very first pre-licensure Nurse Apprenticeship Program now being offered at Menorah Medical Center and Overland Park Regional Medical Center. The event celebrated our partnerships with the Kansas Hospital Association, the Kansas Board of Nursing, and the Kansas Department of Commerce, as well as our nursing school community college and university partners Johnson County Community College, MidAmerica Nazarene University, and Pittsburg State University The Nurse Apprenticeship Program offers aspiring nurses a variety of diverse career pathways where apprentices can choose from several nursing careers tailored to meet their specific career goals. Apprentices gain on-the-job training and valuable practical experience by working with experienced healthcare professionals in a variety of our hospitals departments – all the while getting paid and are even eligible for employee benefits. The program is only available to Kansas residents who are enrolled at a Kansas Board of Nursing program. Learn more at https://bit.ly/3DJjd68.
