Old Colony YMCA is a charitable, non-profit Association committed to the development of strong spirit, mind, and body, guided by Judeo-Christian principles, to enrich the quality of life for everyone in our communities. We believe that our mission is to assist all people to develop to their fullest potential and to respond to ever-changing community needs with a focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. We are a regional provider of human services and health and wellness programming for children, families, adults, and seniors from many diverse communities. At OCY, we view traditional YMCA services – like fitness, swimming, child care, and camp – through an alternate lens; beyond their explicit benefits to the health and wellness of our members and participants, they are also an opportunity for deeper engagement. Last year the Y served more than 141,000 people throughout Southeastern Massachusetts at branches in Brockton, East Bridgewater, Easton, Plymouth, Middleboro, Stoughton, and Taunton. While most Ys have a focus on positive youth development, Old Colony Y is unique in our commitment to serve the most “at risk” members of our community, ensuring that everyone has access to OCY services if they should need them. We are committed to strengthening our capacity to respond to changing communities and ensure that everyone (including persons of diverse culture, ethnicity, religion, ability, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic level, and skill) have access and are welcomed and fully engaged. OCY is governed by a 62 member Board who are active, with committees that provide oversight to all aspects of our operations including a Fiscal Committee, a Program Committee which reviews program and quality compliance, as well as tracking progress on strategic planning goals. We are purposefully working toward ensuring that our board and staff are reflective of the communities we serve. As a diverse organization of people joined together by a shared commitment to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grown and thrive, we strive to provide employment and volunteer opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds. We offer a vast menu of services and community programs, including: • Seven full-facility branches (Brockton – Central/Youth, Easton, East Bridgewater, Middleboro, Plymouth, Stoughton, and Taunton) • A multi-site child care branch (Community Based Child Care) operating 48 sites daily • Five summer camps (Camp Clark, Camp Satucket, Camp Yomechas, YMCA Camp in Stoughton, and Camp Massasoit) • A branch serving families experiencing homelessness (Family Services) • A branch focused on chronic disease and well-being initiatives (Healthy Living) • Residential/non-residential branch programs for adolescents (Social Services)

15 years of Spin-a-thon in the books! 🚴♀️ 🎉 A huge thank you to our amazing sponsors, donors, participants, and energizing staff for making this event unforgettable. To many more years of making a meaningful impact together! #Spinathon #fundraising #oldcolonyymca #communityimpact

We had an incredible weekend at Old Colony YMCA celebrating our 15th year of Spin-a-thon! More than 650 participants joined our cause and raised more than $310,000 – bringing our fifteen year total to $3 million! My favorite part of Spin-a-thon is seeing people of all ages and backgrounds joining in on the fun – pedaling for a purpose and raising money for our Y. The positive impact Spin-a-thon has made for our communities is truly remarkable. With the money raised from Spin-a-thon, our Y is able to break down financial barriers so thousands of children and families can participate in Y programs every year – regardless of their financial or life circumstances. I think of all of the individuals battling a cancer diagnosis who have been able to participate in our no-cost LIVESTRONG program. And the thousands of children who have been able to attend Y summer camp thanks to a scholarship.  None of this would be possible without our generous sponsors, riders, and donors! A special thank you to our Premier Sponsors: High Octane Harley-Davidson, Harpak-ULMA Packaging, LLC, and New England Center for Nutrition Education! Here’s to another 15 years!

🚲 Join me, David Offutt, Michael Eatough, Mark Groebe, Holly Clifford, Daniel Trout, and a few hundred of our closest Y friends for our 15th Annual Spinathon on March 22nd! Every dollar raised next weekend supports a kid, family, or senior who needs access to Y programs. 🚲 Plus, I need help catching up to David in both dollars raised and RPMs - so every bit of support counts!

  • #BlackHistoryMonth In 2015, Kevin Washington became the first African American - and the first person of color - to serve as CEO of the YMCA of the USA. Besides reimagining a new service delivery system across the Y movement, Washington was a leading national voice for relief from federal government for nonprofits devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic. He spearheaded the highly successful #Relief4Charities effort, put Y-USA on a path to become an anti-racist, multicultural organization and engaged young people as changemakers in their communities. #YForAll

  • #BlackHistoryMonth After holding various executive leadership roles in the Newark and Chicago YMCAs, in 1976, Violet P. Henry became the first woman to be named to a top management position at the Y's national office. She provided leadership for numerous national and international commissions and committees that worked for the rights of women and people of color. #YForAll : @yarchives

Yesterday, Old Colony YMCA staff spent the day at the MA State House for the Alliance of Massachusetts YMCAs Advocacy Day, speaking up for priorities that our communities need most. A huge thank you to the legislators and their staff for taking the time to meet with us and hear about the Y’s impact across the Commonwealth. Pictured below are Old Colony YMCA staff, Board Volunteer and former State Auditor Suzanne Bump, YMCA Southcoast colleagues, Chairman Michael Rodrigues, and Chief of Staff for Senator Michael Brady, Al DeGirolamo. And of course, our team ROCKED wearing red and pink for Valentine’s Day💗

  • #BlackHistoryMonth In 1954, Dr. Leo B. Marsh became the first Black president of the Association of YMCA Secretaries. In 1971, Marsh brought the Black Achievers program (created by Quentin R. Mease at the South Central YMCA of Houston) to the Harlem YMCA. With the help of volunteer adult mentors, the Achievers program helps youth of color succeed in school and develop a positive sense of self. #YForAll
