Olark builds accessible chatbots and live chat software. We're a Public Benefit Corporation.

About us

Founded in 2009, Olark was the first to make chat accessible to small businesses who didn’t have big budgets or engineering teams. Since then, we have been fully remote and self-funded, working to help our 8,000+ customers address their customers’ needs through our innovative web communication platform. We lead with our values, care deeply about our people, and are committed to making business more human. Last year we became a Public Benefit Corporation with an emphasis on web accessibility as our social impact focus.

  • Another great demo-day share that shows how the Olark chat experience is becoming more powerful. You can now realtime monitor all chat conversation you have access to, and instantly join AI managed conversation proactively without waiting for a bot to transfer to you. When we think about the future of AI managed conversation, we believe in a future where your support team retains power to shape the quality of responses, and invest in the relationship building that builds customers for life.

In case you missed it last week, I shared a quick post with a peek of why I love our weekly demo day so much. This week, I’m highlighting a recent demo Hector put together. He’s made it possible for agents—including those using screen readers and magnification—to monitor and step into bot conversations in real time on Olark. For customers who are cautious about letting AI handle customer interactions OR want to combine the best of human relationship building and AI knowledge processing, this feature provides peace of mind. It ensures they can easily intervene as needed and offer valuable feedback to improve future bot interactions. The big picture for me, is I want to live in a world where the jobs of the future, including those that involve managing many AI agents are born accessible first, as opposed to having accessibility bolted on later. Next week, I'll share how we demo non engineering work. This really is an all team effort, and I believe every team benefits when folks are sharing their work publicly on an regular basis. #DemoDay #AI #Accessibility #CustomerService #Olark #ScreenReaders #BotControl

  • Nice work Alicia!!

Every Friday, without fail, our team comes together for quick demos of what they’re shipping. It’s one of my favorite meetings of the week. There’s real value in being able to both build and communicate—fast. This skill spans across HR, Ops, Success, and Sales. It’s a moment to showcase what you’ve delivered for customers and keep the entire team aligned. Plus, these internal demos help us speed up delivery. I wanted to shout out Alicia for making it possible for folks using our new operator experience to easily resize the conversation window, even if you rely entirely on keyboard navigation. (If you’re still on the old version, ping me, and I’ll get you set up with the new experience!) Do your teams have similar weekly meetings/practices?

  • Olark Accessible AI Chatbots reposted this

I was thinking about posting this video tomorrow to celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day. But.... .. I was too excited to wait. As many of you know Olark is building accessible AI chatbots and live chat for both chat operators and the customers they serve. It's so much easier to show than it is to tell. My good friend Blake just finished producing a great video demonstrating how he uses Olark as a person that is blind who uses the voiceover screen reader and magnification. It's worth a watch for anyone who is curious how folks with low vision use SaaS products -- especially if you build and/or support software products and haven't thought about accessibility for the billion folks worldwide who live with a disability. As we move beyond compliance and focus on great user experiences, I want to give a huge shout out to folks like Jennison, Joe, Meryl, Christopher who gave me warm welcome many years ago when I asked for help and pointed me in the right direction. And partners like Allyant and Fable who have helped us accelerate progress, as well as so many Olarkers and customers who've contributed to our accessibility imperative. #GAAD #accessibility #a11y #WCAG
