Today is a solemn day in the ongoing movement for Civil Rights. It was on this day in 1968 that Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated for his visionary beliefs. On April 1, we light state landmarks in teal to mark the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We know that a single month isn’t enough to address the significant and widespread problem of sexual assault; however, April holds space for attention, prevention efforts, and survivor support. The 2025 theme "Together We Act, United We Change" highlights the importance of understanding sexual violence, amplifying underserved and underrepresented voices, and fostering collaboration to build safer, more equitable communities. #SAAM25 Follow the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence on social media for tools and resources to help you be an ally this month and all year long: on.ny.gov/opdvsaam Keep up with the Plaza Lighting Calendar and never be left in the dark: on.ny.gov/PlazaLights

Closing out Women’s History Month, OGS Commissioner Jeanette Moy was a guest at the recent Women Builders Council 2025 AIM Conference in #Brooklyn where she joined a panel of industry experts to discuss “Equity in Infrastructure: Driving Diversity and Inclusion.” With a workload of $1.7 billion in active construction, and $2.5 billion in design, OGS plays a critical role in ensuring minority- and women-owned business participation across our vast project portfolio. Now more than ever, New York State continues to engage and promote the use of MWBE firms and does not shy away from our 30% statewide utilization goal. Last year, OGS exceeded that goal with 34.85% or $170 million in payments to certified MWBEs. Here at OGS, our Office of Business Diversity helps ensure the success of this program by helping businesses: • Understand and navigate the state’s procurement process • Learn how to do business with New York State • Register for the OGS Directory of capable subcontractors • Develop networks and enhance visibility through outreach and engagement Visit our website for more information and resources: • Office of Business Diversity: ogs.ny.gov/MWBE • Design & Construction Bid Opportunities: https://lnkd.in/eAKvFP4b • Procurement Bid Opportunities: https://lnkd.in/d6GqU4a Thank you, Tatiana Kotlove, Executive Director of the Women Builders Council, for inviting us to participate in this important discussion and for your advocacy work for women in the building industry.

On March 29, National Vietnam War Veterans Day, we honor the service and sacrifice of our #VietnamWarVeterans across the country and the Empire State. In #Albany, visitors can remember and reflect by visiting the New York State Vietnam Memorial & Gallery at the Empire State Plaza. Take a virtual visit: on.ny.gov/3AmLOMV ✨ Dedicated in 1984, the New York State Vietnam Memorial was one of the first of its kind at the time. It was created to commemorate the military service of New Yorkers who served their country in Southeast Asia between 1961 and 1975. 🖼️ The #gallery was designed to serve as a living component of the memorial, offering exhibits and programs to increase public understanding of the Vietnam War while continually honoring those who served. Look for a fresh exhibit opening later this spring! 💡 Tonight, we light green, yellow, and red in recognition of #VietnamVeteransDay. The three colors adorn the Vietnam Service Medal earned by U.S. Service Members who served on the ground in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, or in the surrounding waters and airspace.
