April is Financial Literacy Month! Thus, Housing Partnership (www.housingpartnership.com) has continued to champion financial literacy for 16 years through its Homebuyer Counseling and Education Program. In 2023, we served over 1170 New Yorkers with the necessary tools for first-time homebuyers to navigate the home purchase process. #financialliteracy
As we celebrate Financial Literacy Month, it is crucial to understand the intersection of #financialliteracy and digital literacy in our increasingly technical world. A recent study by the Capital One Insights Center sheds light on this topic, revealing key insights into how consumer digital and financial literacy affects online banking. The study found that a significant number of consumers lack the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions in the digital age. While 86% of respondents were digitally literate, only 55% were digitally financially literate. With digital financial crimes like fraud and phishing on the rise, this gap underscores the importance of #initiatives aimed at improving digital financial abilities and awareness for all Americans. As a strong proponent of financial literacy, I believe that empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills to efficiently manage their #finances is key to building a more financially secure future for all. As we continue our efforts to close the digital divide to connect more minority communities, this will be an important aspect of creating a fair financial future to close the #racialwealthgap. Let's continue to champion financial literacy and empower individuals to make informed financial decisions. Check out the Capital One Insights Center report to learn more.
