  • We’re honored to share the publication of a deeply meaningful article in PLOS Digital Health: “Perinatal Mental Health Care Goes Digital: Opportunities for Digital Health to Revolutionize the Care Delivery for Healthier Pregnancies and Outcomes.” 📖 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/eBYy--7p At the heart of this piece is Bindu Chanagala, who courageously shared her personal journey through perinatal mental health—and also led the technology and operations efforts behind nurtur, a digital therapeutic platform for maternal mental health. Bindu as a Co-founder of nurtur has played a key role in shaping the user-centered design, clinical integration, and data collection that informed the insights shared in this article. Her leadership exemplifies the intersection of lived experience and healthcare technology innovation—bringing scalable, compassionate, and evidence-based care to those who need it most. Built on AI and machine learning, nurtur is designed to identify mothers at risk for postpartum depression early in pregnancy, deliver self-guided therapy rooted in clinically validated frameworks, and provide continuous, collaborative support through access to a dedicated clinical care team. These digital capabilities were central to the data and insights highlighted in the publication and demonstrate the power of thoughtful technology to close critical gaps in maternal mental health care. This article highlights how digital health tools like nurtur can transform outcomes for moms and babies alike. Huge thanks and kudos to co-authors Martin G. F. for your insights, collaboration, and commitment to maternal health innovation. #MaternalMentalHealth #DigitalHealth #DigitalTherapeutics #AIinHealthcare #MLforGood #HealthTechLeadership #PLOS #nurtur #TechForMoms

  • Exercise isn’t just good for your body—it’s powerful for your mind, too💙 A new study reveals that postpartum exercise can significantly reduce the risk and severity of depression in new moms. Given that many women experience postpartum depression, this research highlights an accessible, proactive way to support maternal mental health. Movement doesn’t have to be intense—walking, stretching, yoga, or even dancing with your baby can make a difference. The key? Finding what feels good and works for you. At nurtur, we believe in preventative approaches to maternal mental health. That’s why our sessions include valuable practices like meditation and mindfulness, giving moms accessible tools to care for their mental well-being every day 💙 What movement or practice helped you feel good postpartum? • She’s a Mom, but She’s Still Her Too. A new mom’s world revolves around her baby—but that doesn’t mean she stops being a person with her own needs, emotions, and identity. Too often, we celebrate the baby and forget about the mother. But she still needs to be asked how she’s doing. She still deserves to feel supported, cared for, and loved. If there’s a new mom in your life, here are a few simple ways to show up for her: 💙 Ask how she’s feeling—really feeling. Not just “How’s the baby?” but “How are you doing?” 💙 Offer specific help. Instead of “Let me know if you need anything,” try “I’m bringing dinner over tonight. Would you prefer pasta or soup?” 💙 Remind her that she’s doing an amazing job. Sometimes, a simple “You’re incredible” is exactly what she needs to hear. 💙 Give her space to talk about something other than motherhood. She’s still the same person she was before—let her share, laugh, and connect beyond baby updates. At nurtur, we believe maternal mental health starts with real, meaningful support. So today, reach out to a mom in your life and let her know she matters—not just as a mother, but as her. 💬 What’s one small act of kindness that made a difference for you in early motherhood? Share in the comments to inspire others. #MaternalMentalHealth #NewMoms #PostpartumSupport #MomsMatter #YouAreNotAlone

  • What if I told you that one group of mothers in the U.S. is still three times more likely to die during or after childbirth? CDC data from 2023 highlights a disturbing trend: while the maternal mortality rates for white, Hispanic, and Asian women have seen slight declines, the rate for Black women has increased—from 49.5 to 50.3 deaths per 100,000 live births. This represents a continuation of a longstanding disparity in maternal health outcomes. This is not just a statistic. This is preventable loss. 🔹 The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate among high-income nations. 🔹 Black women, regardless of socioeconomic status or access to care, remain at the highest risk. 🔹 Bias in healthcare and systemic inequities continue to drive these disparities. At nurtur, we are committed to addressing health disparities through innovative, AI-driven solutions that aim to predict and prevent mental health complications during the perinatal period that are highly correlated with maternal mortality. By leveraging technology to provide proactive care, we seek to ensure that all mothers, particularly those most at risk, receive the support and care they deserve. The work ahead is urgent, and the need for systemic change is clear. Every mother deserves a healthy and safe experience, both during and after childbirth. #MaternalHealth #HealthEquity #BlackMaternalHealth #PostpartumCare #nurtur #InnovativeHealthcare
