🐰 Today, Guadalupe County Correctional Facility (GCCF) staff delivered 40 handmade Easter baskets to students at Santa Rosa Elementary School. The bunny-shaped baskets were made by participants in the crochet class at the facility. 🍭🍬Each basket was filled with candy and small toys, donated by GCCF education staff. #NewMexico #corrections #CommunityEngagement #easterbasket

🎉 This week, 16 inmates successfully earned their Forklift Operator certification at Western New Mexico Correctional Facility’s Women’s Prison in Grants! 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝 3rd, 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙭𝙞𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 80 𝙞𝙣𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙤𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙚’𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 100 𝙗𝙮 𝙈𝙖𝙮! The certification is valid for three years and opens up opportunities for secure employment in warehouses and big box stores, upon their release. Secure employment is a crucial step in reducing recidivism. 🙌 A big thank you to our facility staff and the Reentry Division’s Instructor Joseph Castaneda, Coordinator Anthony Blevins, and Education Administrator Cory Hall for working to make this program a reality!
