  • Congratulations, Dr. Michele Frech! Growing up, Dr. Frech aspired to be a pediatrician. When she delivered a baby for the first time during medical school though, she knew she'd found her calling. Now she's the medical director for Neighborhood Health Center's OB-GYN department, she leads a team of nine providers, and she has delivered thousands of babies. When she joined Neighborhood in 1997, Dr. Frech expected she’d stay three years since that length of commitment would make her eligible to have much of her medical school debt paid off through a scholarship program. She didn’t anticipate the impact the patients, or Neighborhood’s community health center model of care, would have on her. Over the years, Dr. Frech has trained and supported numerous surgeons in obtaining their board certifications. She helped establish midwives at Neighborhood and has grown their role in ensuring patients receive the respectful care they deserve. Dr. Frech pioneered medication-assisted treatment for pregnant patients with substance use disorders and has participated in medical missions globally. Her compassionate approach has earned her praise from her patients and peers. Congratulations, Dr. Frech, on being named a Buffalo Business First 2025 Excellence in Health Care Award winner! You are Neighborhood! #WelcomeToNeighborhood

  • Welcome to Neighborhood, Alexandra Carroscia, PA-C! Alexandra joins Neighborhood's pediatrics team as a physician assistant. She is a graduate of Faulkner University, is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), and is professionally affiliated with the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the Society for Physician Assistants in Pediatrics (SPAP). During her education journey, Alexandra completed her pediatrics and women's health rotations at a healthcare facility in rural Alabama, where she had the opportunity to learn ways to provide better comprehensive care for patients with additional challenges to accessing care. #WelcometoNeighborhood

  • 1 in 8 New Yorkers relies on a health center for care. These are real people with real stories. Kiki shares her story in this video. These are people who count on us. Governor Hochul, we’re counting on you. #RaiseTheRates Sen. Sean Ryan, Assemblymember William Conrad, and Sen. April N.M. Baskin -- will you take action for the health of your constituents? Support Medicaid rate reform for health centers. Current rates are outdated and only cover a fraction of the true cost for care. #TheyCountOnUs. Can we count on you?

  • Omanda (pictured) from Neighborhood's HR team was recently at Erie Community College to talk with students about nursing careers at Neighborhood. Could a career at Neighborhood be a good fit for you? You'd be part of team that believes healthcare is best when each person is treated with respect and compassion. We're hiring for clinical and non-clinical positions. Check out our careers page: nhcwny.org/careers #WelcomeToNeighborhood

  • Healthcare that welcomes you, that’s respectful of your circumstances. Everyone is welcome at Neighborhood Health Center, but healthcare is not one-size-fits-everyone at Neighborhood. "With patients who are experiencing homelessness, they often have reduced access to primary and preventative care and less trust for the healthcare system. This means they're less likely to get early diagnoses for medical conditions. Plus, with the added stress of insecure housing, it's more likely these patients will put their health on the back-burner,” said Laurie Brown-Croyts, a nurse practitioner at Neighborhood, detailing some of the things providers must consider to provide appropriate care for this population. Neighborhood is a member of the National Health Care for the Homeless Council – the premier national organization focused on best care practices and solutions to end homelessness. Imari Maynard, Neighborhood’s population health coordinator, leads Neighborhood’s Health Care for the Homeless cohorts. Through these cohorts, and with the help of Neighborhood’s community health team and clinical staff, Imari identifies Neighborhood patients who are experiencing homelessness and connects them with resources to guide them through the long process of applying for housing. Once Imari learns more about a patient’s individual needs, she can also connect them with other resources and healthcare services at Neighborhood. “We’re continuing to develop our community resources and advanced care management to support our patients experiencing homelessness,” said Imari. “Caring for our patients means caring for the whole person, and that care looks different for everyone.” Pictured with Imari (right) are Neighborhood's Director of Community Health Elise Robinson (left) and Community Health Worker Jesus Linares Jr. (center). #WelcomeToNeighborhood
